Ambient Air package

Is the X7 in fact being produced with the Ambient Air package? i.e. the BMW system for "air fragrances" from various scent cartridges and ionization. The X7 owner's manual does reference it, but the Ambient Air package isn't referenced in the X7 standard feature list, nor available options.

Wondering whether ionization can be used without fragnances?

Cool. Not an overwhelming thing, but neat to know it's in there. Just another available feature, and something I would expect, actually, for a 7-level BMW.

Looks like the answer is yes. On the very next page of the owner's manual, it indicates that ionization and "fragrancing" are controlled separately. Can set the fragrance output to 0, but still use ionization, which would be very useful.

Looking around, it seems some people find the fragrance useful, and at varying levels. Some think it's a waste.

My CA sent me the retail pricing guide last October and I built the X7 from that and the Ambient Air Package was listed. Still haven't seen it mentioned anywhere else and the dealership didn't know it was available until I told them.

My X7 is due to hit Oxnard, CA on the 27th and hopefully a week later San Diego.

Thanks for clarifying! I personally dont like the fragnances at all, ionizatoon however a big plus and i think its especially useful with the kids being more sensitive to air con.

You'll be one of the fortunate ones, then. If you don't use the fragrances, and don't care when the cartridges run out, you won't have to replace them. $44 a pop, and if they're only lasting a month or two each time, that starts getting really pricey, on top of all the new subscriptions you can pay for (i.e. Apple CarPlay, Sat Radio, Wifi Hotspot, etc) when their trials run out.

Upon further investigation, I do have to wonder if Ambient Air really is on every X7. I looked at 4 different X7's over the weekend, both 40i and 50i. Couldn't find the module port in the glovebox for the ambient air inserts on any of them. Did a search on the iOS on the dashboard, through the owner's manual, and no reference of Ambient Air came up.

One owner here verified that he has Ambient Air. Can any others here shed light?

I ordered the Ambient Air Package (4NM) and it's showing in my garage and the order sheet. To this day, I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere on BMW's website. I only saw it listed on the dealer's pricing guide last November.

When I told them I wanted to add it to my order, they were surprised it was offered.

That's odd. You ordered it as a separate option? What did it cost you?

It’s part of the premium package in Canada.Doesn’t look you are able to order it as a stand alone option.

Yes. It was a stand-alone option for $350 (see photo from my previous post of my order sheet). The X7 is soon to replace my '16 750, and "back then" the air package was also a stand-alone option...also for $350. Cost hasn't changed since Fall of '15.

It was also a stand alone option on my wife’s MY18 540i.

Interesting. So it's part of the premium package in Canada. Not showing as standard equipment, part of any package, nor a stand-alone option in the USA. The BMWUSA online Configurator makes no mention of Ambient Air. However, Tattooed was able to order it in the USA as a stand-alone option.

Seems like it might be something like Acoustic Glass was in the G05 at first release--for USA, it's a hidden available stand-alone option that can be ordered, but you have to know to ask for it. Not listed yet as an official available option.

For $350, seems worth it.

Cool, man. You just ask for the 4NM option at $350?

That’s correct. The dealership can see code 4NM and can easily add to your build

Thanks. Gotta wonder if there's any other hidden options that can be ordered.
