UPDATE 3/18/19: Drivetrain malfunction and limp home mode

I was driving around 40 mph and I see a drivetrain malfunction pop up and then the car starts running terribly. I read the codes and it comes back as misfire on cyl 6 and low fuel pressure bank 1. I disconnected and reconnected the battery which didn't help. There's an obvious fuel smell and it actually comes out the exhaust when I ran it(because no combustion). The whole car sputters and shakes with an RPM that's all over the place. Anybody share a similar experience? Coil packs? Plugs? Maybe bad battery? It's off to the dealer tomorrow, just curious if someone can relate.
Thanks!

3/18/19- 4 leaking injectors replaced and 6 new plugs later shes back. Car runs perfectly, stressful few days but I am glad it all came out okay. Also looks like they did away with the $50 CPO copay as my invoice came up as N/C.

Fuel pressure regulator?

That would cause the low fuel pressure code, but also can cause an over fueling? that's my guess.. you could try swapping coils and see if the misfire moves between cylinders

Bad fuel pump of timing chain issues. At least these are the things I have been reading on here lately when it comes to limp mode drive train malfunction.

There was a dead battery that had some of your issues but just the ruff running but no codes of fuel smell.

It was on the side of the road and dark, but I realized that would've been a good option when I gave up. I doubt it's anything with the block itself, I think it's electrical as it cranks just fine.

Garage List
If its an injector malfunction and is putting in too much gas it can water down the oil lubrication and cause cylinder wall damage, be careful.

It was maybe run at idle for a minute total after because of that concern, definitely not driving it again. It's getting towed tomorrow.

Also I remember seeing a thread about putting the car into neutral without turning it on and going underneath. Does anybody have a link or know how to do this? If not can you turn it off while in neutral and have it stay there?

Had some bad injectors myself. Watch out for another CEL. If you get one chances are your CAT got soaked with fuel and is damaged. Happened to me...

Since it was coming out the pipes I will definitely be on the lookout for CAT issues. I changed the oil the week before and sent off a sample, very curious to see if this was a sudden or gradual issue.

I agree, for 4 to fail at the same time is very very unlikely. He's CPO so there's nobody to milk. I assume they looked at all of them and replaced what looked to be bad or going bad.

Yea I wouldnt be going to the dealer without a warranty lol. The circumstances are a bit weird with 4 being replaced, when I did some reading on the forums I found that most people with injector issues got around 3 replaced by the dealer.

Heres the snip from the invoice. I would guess this wouldve been around 1500-2000 w/o warranty...

27427 27427 FUEL INJECTORS FUEL INJECTORS CONNECTED BATTERY CHARGER AND RAN SHORT TEST. FOUND FAULTS FOR
FUEL PRESSURE AND MISFIRE(11A002, 140001). REMOVED COILS AND PLUGS FOR MISFIRE CYLINDERS 2,3,5,6. FOUND THAT
REMOVED PLUGS ARE SOAKED WITH FUEL UPON REMOVAL. REMOVED SPARK PLUGS FOR CYLINDER 1 AND 4. FOUND SPARK
PLUGS TO ALSO BE FOULED. DRAINED AND OFF AND TEST FUEL COMPOSITION TO ENSURE FUEL ADDED IS GOOD. FUEL TEST IS
WITHIN SPEC. REMOVED INJECTORS FOR MISFIRING CYLINDERS. FOUND THAT THE INJECTORS FOR CYLINDER 2,3,5,6 ARE LEAKING.
REPLACED INJECTORS FOR CYLINDER 2,3,5,6 AND ALL 6 SPARK PLUGS. TEST DROVE VEHICLE AND RAN SHORT TEST. FAULT NO
LONGER PRESENT

Never heard it the N55 injectors leaking. The N54 with the more complicated objectors had the issue and even a recall.

There are a few people out there with similar stories, just have to look a lot harder than you would for the N54 lol
