That just means your headlights are on. It is useful to know when your headlights are on when your headlight control is set to Auto.

That will only drain your battery if it stays on while your engine is not running. If your engine is running and your alternator is functioning, there's no way any lights will drain your battery. You only have to worry if you see that indicator while your engine isn't running.

Nothing to worry about, totally normal.

Also in auto mode the lights will come on in some daylight conditions as well.

You'd be a lot more nervous if it wasn't on, because your headlights wouldn't be on either.

I like that there’s the green indicator to tell me the lights are on esp during the day; my previous E46 had the auto lights but the only way to tell if the headlights were on in daylight (darker cloudy skies) was to hold your hand up to the interior ambient light by the rear view mirror - if you saw a red reflection, the headlights were on.

Just be happy the OP is paying attention to his car. I see so many people driving around at night with no lights on.

So true...one of my pet peeves since my birthday cake now has too many candles! True, they might be able to see better at/after dusk, but their cars esp if a darker color, is not as noticeable. I’ve flashed my highs in the past but am now more concerned with being shot at or irritate a road rage.
