Does anyone else think it is way over-the-top?

Yes, I think that's a complete and utter mess. The definition of trying far too hard. It looks cheap aftermarket, not OEM.

I'd rather drive a current civic type R than that thing.

May be a different prospect in the flesh but all those cuts and lines everywhere just leave me cold. There's no "I want one!" like you feel when looking at a San Marino Blue M4 with the carbon bits.

Shame as this is supposed to be a good driver's car. Bit like a woman who's great in bed but has a face like a chewed toffee.

Not the nicest looking car is it! Hopefully by the time the estate comes / I can buy one they have tweaked it to look better / non OEM parts which look better are available. I think the current splitter / diffuser on the F31 looks miles better

It looks like it's had a trip to Halfords first. And that grill, good grief.

Don't like the wheels. Red interior is hideous. Pick and choose what you want though and it could look OK.

The grill looks like they are ripping the Mercedes design off, the whole car looks like a dogs dinner with that performance kit.

Crikey... Can you imagine how much that would cost with all those bits (assuming there is also some stuff under the hood, so to speak)... I mean, no joking, that would have to be up at M3 money... Then it begs the question...

Stylistically, I don't like much of it, personally. An M340 to me would be a more stealthy proposition. Perhaps in something like Silverstone Silver. But I am guessing they will start at the high 40's price wise, easily being mid/upper 50's with options, so one is highly unlikely to be heading my way...

The steering wheel and carbon trims are nice, though...

That wouldn't be M3 money just because of that hideous body kit

WTAF is the script with the filled-in grille? The review of the 320d in What Car had the same thing, albeit without the tacky 'new money' leaded window effect, though in shiny black it was only marginally less naff.

I'm sure there's some engineering/eco reason but it's utterly hideous. That alone would put me off a G20.

Wonder if there will be after market grilles more like the current ones....?

Yep, derived from MB... but a lot less subtle unfortunately

As I understand it, the slats behind the trim open up, variably, when needed... so closed to help speedier warm-up, then open as required...

I think if you took an M340, added a spec, then added every single M Perf option, like this, then you might be surprised...

Not classy looking at all .!!
Hideous grille , and red seats only look cool in alfas .
Its not top of my want list !!
And I'm not a fan of carbon fibre either genuine or otherwise . can't see the point .
Its like the bike fraternity mad on carbon for "weight saving " !!!!!
Cheaper and more weight saving to have a bowel emptying session before a ride out .!!
Would raw glass fibre hold as much kudos ??
Thought not .
