Why do Laser lights (Executive Package) require the Premium Package?

For the G20 330i / m340i can someone tell me why do you need both of these packages to be able to get the laser lights (u shape daytime running lights) It becomes like $3500 just for that when I don't want all the other stuff. The standard LED look like an underline which don't look as nice in my opinion.

ZPX requires ordering ZPP

ZPX Executive Package $2,100 $2,100
5AC Automatic High Beams x x
5AZ BMW Laserlight x x
5DN Parking Assistant Plus x x
6U8 Gesture Control x x
ZPX requires ordering ZPP x x

ZPP Premium Package $1,400 $1,400
248 Heated Steering Wheel x x
494 Heated front seats x x
or 4HA Front and Rear Heated Seats + $350 + $350
610 Head-up Display x x
ZPP and 4HA requires ordering Vernasca Leather x x

Theres actually 3 lights. if you have m-sport or convenience package which I'd guess a lot of people will get you have the middle one which is the adaptive LEDs, which is more like a smaller U shape and not a line. Personally there is no way I'd pay for executive just to get laser lights which I'm guessing I'll almost never use since they are only high beams.

They day time running lights and blue on the light housing makes the laser light option a worthy add. I don't like the other two light options.

the laserlights, aren't really a u, its more of a swept back arc. the adaptives are a tiny U.

Because BMWNA said so. They know that most people will pay the extra money if they want it.

For the same reason they made the Adaptive LED's aesthetically inferior to the laser lights (and the F30 LCI Adaptive LED's). To pressure folks into buying a package they don't need to keep BMW's average selling price higher.

It is a stair step system, so getting the top tier package means you also get everything under it.

The only thing that made the G20 worth is money are the maser lights. I don't like the smaller U form LED lights In my opinion you made a mistake

How are you happy with the short beam throw of adaptive LEDs? Is it good enough for high-speed night highway driving?

I'm really happy with it. I can't compare it with the laser lights but my old bimmer has xenon lights and the low and high beam led is a lot better than the xenon and its like a day light.
I didn't test it at night on the motorway but when i do i will let you know.

Thanks for the feedback. Great to hear it's brighter than xenons.

I'm torn between Adaptive LED and Lasers cause I'm doing a lot of night highway miles (150kmh+ averages) so a long throw of main beam is a must for me. Currently my local dealership only has a G20 inside the saloon, so I didn't have the change to test drive it to see how good are these lights from first hand.

I currently have bi-xenon on my car, and while I found that latest generation of LEDs are brighter than xenons, I also see that most LED healidghts have shorter throw compared to xenons. This is probably related to different internal optics of LED projectors. I'm also not a fan of colder LED light temperature because it lacks some contrast, especially in poor weather, in comparison to Xenon(HID). However, from what I've seen and read so far these latest generation LEDs are far better than early LED systems from 5 years ago.
