DTUK settings

Hello all, I’m looking to understand what the settings mean on the DTUK CRD3+ box

P1
P2
P3
-3
-2
-1
+1
+2
+3

I’ve been reading a lot across different forums but they all seem to say different things. Dtuk post general junk saying try them al out, but what do they actually mean or do? How do you use it to get the quotes bhp figure

P1 = Efficiency
P2 = Dynamic
P3 = Sport

All modes have the same peak power and torque, but deliver the power differently low down. You shouldn’t touch the + & - adjustments unless there’s a problem with any of the modes.

I use Dynamic for daily driving, Efficiency when family are in the car or on long journeys, and sport for gunning it or acceleration testing.

Do the +\- buttons not increase/decrease the max power/torque of that setting.
Never quite understood that bit?

Read the “WHATS THE BEST SETTING TO USE ON MY DTUK TUNING BOX?” section here:

https://www.diesel-performance.co.uk...ked-questions/

The + settings may give more power, but could result in an EML. Also on some cars they could actually achieve more power with a - setting! The DTE Systems instructions said not to touch it, but after reading this I might give +1 a go on P3.

When I had one on the 313ps 35d I ran P2 +3 with no errors. I ran it initially on P2 +2 until my warranty was out in case +3 caused errors. P2 seemed to be the best option for what I wanted... Once out of warranty I ran it on +3 for about 6 months/15k miles until I changed my car. I didn't drive it flat out for any sustained length of time (which I understand is when you might encounter issues), though I think you could only really do that on a track...

Fab - I’ll give it a go on P2 for now.

How are you finding the M3 comming from the GT?

Ive read a lot of people liking the P2 mode the best. I recently bought a box 2nd hand, and have stuck with P2+2. I found that P2+3 could result in a little black soot (only visible at night in car headlights)

The M3, as you would expect, is in a completely different league to the 35d - having nearly 150 more PS and not that much less torque in a much lighter package makes it a complete animal when you want everything set to the max, but what I hadn't appreciated was just how comfortable a saloon it becomes when you want it to be - all at the touch of a button on the wheel... The handling and performance is great but probably the best bit for me is the M Performance Exhaust - coming from 15 years of 30/35ds due to high mileage it is nice to have some significant drama back in my motoring life... No regrets on the tuned 35ds I've owned though - nothing better for doing high mileage and then coming off the m-way and decimating almost anything at the lights
