Hi all,
I'm looking for some advice about a 2017 BMW 440i. The turbo is making a fairly loud whistling sound when it spools and I have major loss of power. Does this mean I have a leak somewhere? The car is still drivable but makes very little power. Thank you!

Edit: I have a high flow cat, Dinan intake, and was running jb4 on map 3. MPPSK

If you take it to the dealer make sure you put it back to stock because they’ll void you with those mods for sure.

Was the car dropped off WITH all mods present?

Negative ghost rider. I might as well give the dealership a briefcase full of cash at that point. Sorry for not specifying haha

My understanding was map 3 was the least aggressive?

Edit: found this from Mike on an earlier b58 post I used as reference. Is this true?

"Map Guide as of v4 firmware below:

Map 0: Disable JB4 all together
Map 1: Suggested performance map
Map 2: More aggressive than map1 for bolt on mods and higher octane fuels or octane booster, currently in BETA testing
Map 3: Less aggressive than map1 intended for use with lower grade fuels or customers looking for less of a performance increase.
Map 4: Stock tuning with CANbus active for logging and diagnostics
Map 7: Water/Methanol Injection map"

My guess is that you have a boost leak > either a pipe developed a hole, clamp loosened, ..... surprised you removed all the aftermarket parts vs looking for the boost leak

It's not that I don't want to, I just don't have the time and the tools right now and I'd rather not risk any further damage to the car. If I'm going to troubleshoot a problem, I'd rather take my time and do it right so I don't have the same issue down the line. The earliest chance I have would be next weekend and that's easily 200 miles on the car

Can you provide any more details, did they say what caused the failure?

That's all I know for now. I'll update this thread as I find out more information.

8-10k; that’s nuts. If this happened to me out of warranty I’d go Pure Stage 2 for $2250 and pay a BMW Indy $1200 to install it.

Update:
Bmw is refusing warranty service on the turbo due to "external influences". They're blaming that the Dinan intake is missing a bolt. However; I installed the intake and didn't install the last bolt because I was missing the nut for it. It did not impact the install whatsoever. We'll see what happens now.

Edit: Once I explained the situation with the bolt, everything seems okay for now. They're proceeding with the diagnosis.
