Talking De-badging my Z4

What is the easiest and safest way to remove the Z4 badge from the rear of my car? I want to replace it with my Dinan badge. Thanks!

It's done and it does. The dental floss worked like a charm. No need for the hair dryer.

Now...what do you put on your wheels to keep the brake dust off? I washed the car yesterday, drove it 20 miles and the wheels were covered.

waxing them will help reduce the brake dust. After a couple application you will see less and less. However you will never get rid of brake dust.

New pads might help, with the dust, but you'll never completely get rid of it. Some gunmetal rims would help you hide it better tho.

I switched my pads over to Fodera carbon fiber ones. Compound 9500 I believe it was, (dont quote me on that) but its the super street compound. There is absolutely minimal dust, and the pads are upteen times better then OEM. Same cost too.

Hawks brake pads are excellent too. You may want to shoot them an email and ask which are the absolute lowest brake dust emitting pads they offer.

Good advice about waxing the wheel part, I'll have to try that.

You need a specific wax for wheels, mind - carnauba would evaporate from the heat.

New pads help.....I have Mintex - Xtreme High Performance Brake Pads... brake dust is very, very minimal. However, if you're like some of us here, I still have a habit of cleaning my wheels once a week...

good luck and let us know what you chose....

Thumbs up Rejex for wheels

I use Rejex sealant http://www.rejex.com/rejex.html on my wheels and it makes cleaning much easier.
The OE Textar brake pads are inherently very dusty particularly when being shredded by the cross-drilled rotors (another bad BMW marketing idea in the same category as the Sport Mode).
The Akebono Euro ceramic pads are far less dusty.

I just used Rejex last night on one wheel to see if it helps. I won't drive the car for a few days but I will report the results when I do drive it.

new pads are the answer. You can wax your wheels all you want, but with OEM pads not only will you see a ton of brake dust, but a couple members have reported a brake squeal as well.

Yea, the Rejex helped make cleaning easier, but they still get dirty. If my car is under the 100k maintenance warranty, can I pay to upgrade to a different brake pad?
