Royal Steering Wheels

Thinking of an alcantara wheel from Royals.
Does he remove the old leather cover? Or is the alcantara put over the top?
The reason I ask is they always look alot thicker than leather. And yes I do realise alcantara is more textured.
Are they still around £150 exchange?

Yea I believe they wrap over the top.

Apparently they’re crazy busy these days though, so you might struggle to get it done.

You may want to look into alcantara on steering wheels. It looks great when new, but soon goes smooth and shiny from sweat and oils from your hands.

It’s commonly used on competition vehicles as it’s very grippy, but generally used with gloves.

Yeah I found that with mine, it needs an intensive clean (and subsequently a long period to dry) to keep it looking good if you do a lot of miles.

My steering wheel is currently away with Royals being covered in alcantara. As mine is heated they have said that this is the only way they can do it, but just drop Jack an email and he will get back to you eventually.

It seems Jack does emails on tuesdays generally, so don't expect a quick reply to every email you send!!

Once you are through that stage though, I have found him quite helpful. I have a loan wheel from him (sent to me first), then I sent him mine to cover, and then I will send his loan wheel back after I get mine back. Slightly more convoluted for me because mine is heated, whereas he has non-heated M sport wheels in stock so can do a simple exchange type service.

Yes still around £150 too.

Thanks for the replies.
Out of interest how do you guys find the wheel with just a cover on top of the leather and also being thicker?
I am looking at buying a cheap wheel and getting that done as there's nothing wrong with my current one.

even when shiny and smooth from sweat and grease still grips better than any other wheel! Looks dog pants though
