Aircon has mind of its own
Mines booked in this week however wondered if anyone has had issues.
Mine appears to change speed and temp at its own will and will continue for hours after I’ve locked the car. I’ve come back to it a few times after a day at work to hear it still running. Sometimes the controls make no difference at all. Not good for the battery...... Anyone experienced anything similar? Cheers |

Not going to be much use to you but gives you a free bump up to the top! I had a similar problem last summer when it was very hot. Aircon ran on for ages after shutting the car, even had messages on the I drive!! BMW couldn't find anything wrong and it sorted itself out when the temperature went back to normal! Been fine all winter!

Go into the iDrive settings and make sure there are no scheduled times for the ventilation to come on.
As to the temperature going up and down, I have no clue. I just set it up at the desired temperature (in auto) and let the climate control do its magic. However, the fan speed will automatically adjust depending upon the temp in the car and if the windscreen has misted up. |

Many thanks for responding. Dropped at dealers now and it payed ball replicating the fault for the master tech. Also lots of fault codes logged for heating/aircon. I'll let you know outcome however they've warned it could take a while.

It will be interesting to know in case mine acts up again. There is a control unit on the blower motor which may give these sort of symptoms. Had it once on the daughters Clio when fan only ran flat out constantly. Cheap fix on that £16 off eBay, although Renault wanted £230!!!!

As per other post update...
So to update; car is now back. Wiring loom had been incorrectly routed and has been rubbing on chassis from day 1. Wire had finally worn through to the copper and caused an intermittent short hence the random behaviour. I have to say that I’m quite impressed with the dealer. It was dropped off on monday night as I was working away yesterday however wasn’t supposed to be looked at until today. They’ve diagnosed the fault, and worked flat out on it to get it back to me this afternoon. On the basis the loom could only be accessed by taking the dash completely out I think that’s a good turnaround. Service manager admitted that the egr situation has been a nightmare lately and that the senior directors have all been out helping shift cars about to try and keep them on the grounds whilst awaiting parts. Anyhow all seems good now and no creaking from the dash so far which is always a worry! |
