BMW Switching from D mode to M1
Anybody ever experience the above?
BMW 320D M Sport Auto whilst driving along in D sometimes it switches into manual mode on its own. No fault codes or anything. |

When you say driving along ... it switches to M1 ie first gear. That must jerk a lot and cause some high rev action. Sounds bad and dealer trip.
Potentially very dangerous.

Sorry I meant it goes into the corresponding manual gear (without me touching the gearstick). It’ only happened two or three times. Normally when I’m braking and coming to a standstill it’ll automatically change to the corresponding manual gear. Once when I was driving along in D it went into M5 by itself and I only realised due to the high revs when accelerating. Quite odd. |

I checked the fault codes with Ista. Basically I retrofitted the 2TB Sports gear shifter and that activated the paddles however my steering wheel has no paddles so was a coding issue. I coded the paddles out and no problems.
