F90 M5 Competition beats Mercedes AMG GT 63 S on AutoBild test

M5 Competition is faster around track and quicker to 200kph/124mph.
F90 is seriously punching above its weight considering the power difference and the massive $50.000/40.000 price gap!
M5 also has better brakes (both CCBs) and scored a higher final score.

Btw: Didn't C&D post a 2.8s time for 0 to 60 for the regular M5? Wonder why we haven't seen a similar time with the M5C yet.

C&D tests with a 1-foot rollout, which probably shaves 0.1-0.2 seconds. AutoBild also tests to 100 kph (62 mph) rather than 60 mph, which is around 0.1-0.2 seconds again.

Correct AB is to 62 MPH - which will add time.

Interesting again that the much more expensive MB can't take out the F90 CP.

It's such a solid platform - I am glad to back the winning Team (at least for this generation lol)...

Impressive results from both cars. Very close battle.
However I am finding the straight line speed from the GT quite a bit disappointing, given its price premium over the M5 and E63 S. It is probably the reason it lost in the track, although handling wise its massive weight does not help (even though it has some aero trickery and 4 wheel steering).

Performance wise, they are almost identical. The driver will determine the winner everytime. The deciding factors here are looks and sound.

M5 is the bang-for-buck king though.

When I bought M5 I didn't like the weight but boy its lighter then all other competitors.

Merc 2078kg damn... that is heavy duty

I don't understand why people say this AMG GT 4-door is designed from the ground up when it's based on the regular E-class chassis. It needs a much lighter chassis. Even the previous W212 AMG's were much lighter in comparison, and they had 5.5L V8's or 6.2L V8's in earlier models.

The interior is so E-class on the GT and quite disappointing on a car costing this much.

Heavier! Much more expensive! Less Practical! And now slower ! Why I am not surprised!

I actually love the looks of E63S AMG way more than this and in some ways and from some angles than the F90! But the F90 is just like a beautiful woman that can and will be a lot more beautiful when dressed up and in full make up! ///Mods
