Infotainment Bug

Hi all,
Today I encountered a weird bug where the infotainment screen showed no connection. Couldn’t turn on the radio or see my backup camera etc. But it later reset itself after I turned the car fully off. Has anyone encountered this?

Nope.. maybe they have taken a page out of Microsoft's troubleshooting guide.

Or as the professionals call it a "power cycle"

Never got this one.
The issue I noticed is that just after start up, while it displays in the dashboard that you do not have full power, it is pointless to switch the information displayed on the console (for example if you want to reset the counter). It does not work. In fact doing such seems to even slow down the moment when it is ready to accept any order...

In the past I always faced glitches that require to "reset" something (restart the car or stop/close/wait a bit/open/restart). I tend not to bother too much if it does not happen often.
With the amount of electronics we have now in cars, I guess we have to be ready to experience such issues more and more...

LOL! I am glad the entire car doesn't run on Microsoft OS. Otherwise we'd have to close all windows before turning off or restarting the car.

Not on this car but my M235i did this. Of course it worked everytime I dragged it to the dealer. If it becomes more frequent recommend you document and take it back to the dealer.

Yes, happened once with me. I didn't restart the car however, it turned on after a few minutes. Hasn't happened since. I'll bring this up when it goes in next.

Seen this before on bimmers, turning it off won't clear the problem as BMW has "radio readiness" which means electronics stay running until they go to sleep. Once the system sleeps it essentially resets all components on next power on which is what I assume you did, lock car and come back to it later.

Yep, that is correct. Has happened in my e92 335i a couple of times. Had to let the car sit for about 10 min until everything went to sleep. Then it worked again.
