Does wheel need rebalance after flat repair?

I have a screw in my rear tire, not in sidewall. There is a slow leak so I know I need to get it repaired soon. When I bought the tires, I had them Road Force balanced. If the tire is repaired while leaving it on the rim and simply using a plug wad, does it need to be re-balanced? Or, is taking the tire off of the rim and applying a patch better? I assume if the tire is removed from the rim it will need to be re-balanced. I have non run-flats, on sport pkg. rims.

If it's just a plug no; the plug does not weigh enough to offset the balance...but if you patch it yes because the tire has been dismounted.

I would prefer to use the plug for cost benefit, but was unsure if it would have any affect on the balance. Will the plug last as long as a patch?

It works just as good as a patch. Just make sure you have enough air still in the tire when you try to plug the hole. Put air in if you have to and cut off any excess plug material once you have it in.

Yea, it being a rear tire you should have less issues with detecting vibrations if there are any. If you're having them just plug the tire with it still installed on the wheel, I suggest at least having them run a high speed balance on it to make sure it's still good to guy. I doubt you'd see any road force from the plug.

A patch is marginally better than a plug, but this also depends on the person installing the patch. If anything, I feel it's much easier for the installer to improperly apply the patch than it is for them to incorrectly install the plug.
