JB4 and BMS stage 1. vs. RACECHIP. F90M5

Anyone can compare these two?

Burger offers a 4psi boost with stage1 and easy install plus a JB4 with multiple boost options and maps with phone control

RC offers two products ...how many maps and boost levels?

@r33_RGSport can give you more details
It's 3 stage, efficient/sport/race map 3/5/7
Map 7 gives you about 70HP
Picture is with app control

Thank you Miko M for the call.

RaceChip has RS and GTS Black. Both available with or without App function.

RaceChip RS only have 6 maps and less aggressive mapping.
RaceChip GTS Black have 7 maps and more aggressive than RaceChip RS.

With App function, the mapping is pre-assigned from the backend to each individual mode.
While without App function, you can choose your mapping manually from 0-7 or 0-6 on the RS model, with 5 as default in GTS Black and 4 as default on RS.
Boost gain wise, I don't remember on top of my head. But onfireX5 should be able to chime in. He did a few data logging on it.

Yes would like to know the boost levels for each map on both rs and gts

Also how do you change manually without app?

Yes, most people keep it on most aggressive setting so they don't open the hood all the time.

I have small commute so it's most of the time on efficient mode or when I drive the kids.
When alone or want to have fun, just press a button on phone

Does it hurt anything if you just leave it at the most aggressive setting all the time and just use the gas pedal to control the power?

No. I have 32,000 miles on my X5M with it locked on 7. 2500 miles on my F90 with it locked on 7. I max them, log to verify and forget it.

Depending on atmospheric conditions, a 3 to 4 psi boooooost in power.

The BMS F90 Stage1 is the absolute best value in F90 tuning, installs in 30 seconds, drives as smooth as stock, and provides solid 50-60whp gains. Via the simple TMAP connections only so much performance can be added and the Stage1 maximizes that performance. No other Stage1 type product can make more power because there is only so much power to be made without EWG control and CANbus control like the JB4 offers.

Stage1 bms is 4psi increase over the stock 20.5psi ? =24.5psi?

How much boost increase on each of the different RC modes and maps?

Boost on the BMW DME is not a hard set target. It gets complicated with predicted mass air flow, etc.

Pure stock is roughly 17-18psi depending on atmospheric conditions.

RC on 7 will add 3-4psi to that “roughly “. I’ve never tested any of the lower numbers so I do not know the drop.

I still don’t know why people keep saying a Tune is better when it A. avoids warranty B. Disables innate protection mechanisms?!

Is it just because if more power gains?! Or full control on DME?! Flash?! Remap?!
Have Audi S8 with APR Stage II and it is amazingly powerful and no issues, but there’s were some weird things! Like car at times when coming to a stop would be still downshifting from gear 2 to 1 in very awkward way that jolts the whole car!! Rare but annoying!!

Also What’s our there now for F90 M5 that’s like APR II for Audi?!

Hey soooma,

I will be switching to DME tune because off things you can change like CEL light remova ( I need this because off down pipes that I will remove today ) you can remove cold start ( I will leave this on ) you can remove speed limiter and also Increased burble
Obviously also more HP which should be close to APR 2
DME You have:
Stage 1 100HP 100TQ
Stage 2 140HP 130TQ

Yeah not going down that route unless planning to keep it and if history is any indication, I won't I will make do with Piggy but itching for a better sound as this Stock Exhaust sounds terrible

Knowing how much boost PSI is increased for each map is critical for engine safety.....example if there is too much boost in some cases you need to run race fuel.......why doesnt anyone know how much PSI increase is set on the RC for each map?

with JB4 it is very clear see the first post for info;
