Joe Achilles (video) "M2 COMPETITION AT MOTECH PERFORMANCE *AC SCHNITZER / DD CODING"

Lot's of good views in this video. Also got a kick at how mechanically un-inclined Joe is.

Thanks for sharing.

@10:40 that's the stock exhaust sound. Not the foam filter he put in.
Oh it sounds terrible

Dunno about the lowering: Stance alright off course.
I don't want to schratch my frontspoiler and other stressfull stuff.

Cheers
Robin

I am within a mm or two of not being able to get up and back down my driveway. I will never lower this car and it's now the benchmark for "as low as the driveway will allow".

Sounds a bit like "I'm lowering my car not because it's needed, but to keep my YouTube channel alive". The interesting part however was, how do they code the top speed limit away? Haven't heard anywhere else that that is possible.

Actually considering lowering mine. I know the stance is already decent but I've seen some with coils and it looks even better lower IMO. Just trying to decide whether to go the coil over route or lowering springs. I don't think I will need the adjustability but I'm not sure if lowering springs are the way to go with the stock shocks.

If you're going to lower your car go with coilovers. Stock dampers are not designed to sit lower. Seen lowering springs blow out dampers one too many time due of this. With coilvers you get the added benefit of height adjustability and depending on which ones you go with compression/rebound adjustability too.

Please dont go with lowering springs. There are tons of coilover options. Lowering car with springs only would ruin your handling. Stock dampers are not meant for the shorter travel of the lowering springs. Your ride would be ruined and will be more bouncy.

There are absolutely no excuse for lowering springs on the M2. The only reason why lowering springs might be acceptable is if you have adaptable suspension, which you dont on the M2c.

Nice guy and all that - met him in person awhile ago - but sadly, JA is vlogging to keep his corporate paymasters [BMW] and sponsor [Motech] happy over being an objective enthusiast towards his subscribers.

If you believe the hype that JA spouts - go for just ACS springs but his opinion goes against the grain of many others who have tried M2 with aftermarket springs.

I had Eibachs on my OGM2 for about 9 months before I switched to coils.
Yes, on the Eibachs and 10mm spacers the car looked good/better but the ride was compromised and bouncy as you like at the rear.

Yeah lowering springs are stupid. It changes the suspension geometry and the dampers aren’t designed for it. It’s for people who can’t afford to do it right with a coilover.

It's good to hear this type of feedback. I think I'll just get a set of good coilovers in the first instance instead of springs. Only 4 months until I get the car now 😁😬

That's why I'm getting a front and rear bbk also. I know I could just make do with new pads, fluid and stainless steel lines, but I'd rather start as I mean to go on 😁
