335xi tire choice
Now that I've decided to ditch the RFT for non, I'm trying to decide between the Goodyear F-1's and the Yokohama Advan S4's. Anyone have any firsthand experience with either of these on an xi? BTW... I'm keeping the 18" staggered setup I currently have with the RFT's. Thanks

For me only Pirelli P-zero baby!!! It appears you're looking for high performance tires and not all weather so why not go with one of the best? I've had them on many cars over the years and have never failed me yet. You paid a lot for your car don't start getting cheap on the tires.

I'm assuming you're looking for high performance all season tires as the S4 are all season tires.
Our customers have given us good feedback on the Goodyear Eagle F1 All season tires. Another tire you may want to consider are the Kumho Ecsta ASX and Pirelli PZero M&S.

I have an '06 330xi and I just switched over to the Eagle F1 AS. I'd say so far, so good. Better ride and handling than the OEM Continentals. As far as noise goes, I wouldn't characterize them as 'quiet', but they are no worse (probably a little better) than the OEM run-flats. I just got back from a long highway trip and I can honestly say that I couldn't notice any noise unless I was specifically trying to listen for it.

Indeed I did, car came with the 17" Continental runflats which as I understand is already much quieter and smoother riding than the Bridgestone alternatives. I find the F1 AS to be a bit odd with it's noise...it's fine on the highway and at low speeds, but between around 40-65km/h it makes this rhythmic noise similar to a winter tire but not quite as loud. Anything above or below those speeds and it disappears into a constant whooshing sound like one would expect. One noise aspect that is certainly vastly different though is the sound when driving over road imperfections and bumps, just by nature of non-RFT vs RFT you won't crash over stuff like you're about to lose something off the car with the F1s so I found that really helps.

Bump, anyone with 18" recommendations for all seasons.
I want to stagger them on my Style 162's. Any info on the Goodyear F1 A/S noise? Anyone with Yoko Advan S4? The intent is for the shoulder season in Canada, April-May and then Sept-Oct-Nov Thx. |

I got the F1 AS over a summer set exactly for that purpose, so that I can drive on them in the dry but cold months without the tires turning into hockey pucks, yet have stellar traction for the hot summer months.
