There's a sale on at the U.K. Connected Drive store, CarPlay is reduced from £255 to £191.25 for a 3 year subscription , still expensive

Looks like some other stuff is reduced as well and some new packs which don't apply to our cars, assume those are for new models?

There's a lot of much cheaper aftermarket solutions yes, I went that route myself but I'm sure some people like to go the official route plus there are rumours of aftermarket coding being possible blocked in future

does this mean that car spec'd with apple CarPlay post build only have a subscription of 3 years as well?

I don't think it's done by coding, he generates a lifetime FSC code for the car.

Yes, it's just a 3 year subscription you are paying for from BMW even if you spec it on a factory order, you then renew yearly after that has expired

Aftermarket is far cheaper but there's a risk you lose it if BMW update software

I had it done on mine back in May, it was a emailed file I had to put on usb stick and plug into car, it changes some settings and applied the FSC code

I'm sure the coders will find a way round it if BMW do block it?
