S55 with OPF cooling fan

After normal driving when I put the car in my garage the cooling fan/system stays on for 10-20 seconds or so.
Normal temps outside(8-15 degrees Celsius)

N55 in OG M2 never did that after normal driving in normal temps.

Yesterday I didn't even drive very fast or something and let it (driving @ lower revs for a few mins like I always do) cool down just for te sake of it.

I put it in my garage and there was it again: the cooling/fan.

But now it took about 3 mins and then it stopped, so strange.

That's a lot of cooling and it was about 7 degrees Celsius outside.

Is this normal for this kind of S55?

Cheers
Robin

I noticed the same thing. Turned off the car for the first time in the garage and the fan stayed on for about a minute. Seemed ok but I’m curious as well.

M235i didn’t do this.

Only happens to me if driving "normally" in sports or sports +. Only stays on for about a minute.

Once you came to stop, just let your motor run for another 30 seconds before you finally turn it off. I also don't push it during the last five minutes, but thats already over the top...

A bad szenario would be to have maximum power for at least 1-2 minutes and then immediately shut off the motor. That's what will cause problems.

Turbos need cooling...

When driving for extended periods and then coming to park/shutoff, it’s best to let turbo powered motors to idle for a couple minutes to dissipate excess heat... Or that’s my limited understanding. Perhaps the reason for the engine fan.

Since my Impreza GTTurbo back in 1999 I always let the turbo cool off by driving with low revs for the last miles and/or letting it cool down for a minute or so in my garage.
