Ambient lighting issues
Took our M40i into the dealer a couple of weeks ago to fix a few issues. One being that the ambient lighting didn't work on the rear and drivers front door. Front passenger was fine. When we got it back everything appeared to work fine except the passenger door was brighter than the rest. Well, tried the dual color today and noticed that only the passenger door would be colored on the strip and the rest of the doors were white on the portion that you could see. So something is swapped around on the three doors. Issue likely lies in the passenger door and thinking they wired it backwards. How is the lighting supposed to be? Is it colored or white on the strip that is visible? Just want to make sure when we get it back, it is done right.

Yes, so the strip is supposed to be the white and then the ambient or "glow" that you can't see the strip should be colored? The description on the screen almost makes it sound like the color is what you would see on the strip and the "glow" would be white light or is it the other way around? That's what I am trying to figure out if you do the dual color, which would be the visible light? White or color. Sorry, my medication is making me think pretty slow and hard to describe what I'm looking at. LOL!

Bad replacement parts. This was the same thing that happened to my vehicle before they agreed to the buy back. I’m actually surprised they attempted the repairs because the last I heard, all the replacement parts had been recalled.

As far as I know, replacement parts are still on back order and BMW is aware of this issue with the ambient lighting which also includes hot spots in the lighting tubes. I spoke with someone about a month ago from BMW USA who asked for pictures for reference and said they were aware of the issue and working on a fix.

Not resolved just yet. Dealer ordered a new control unit and they are claiming it has to be programmed over in Germany due to the control unit having an IP address... Sounds like BS to me but you never know. Parts should have arrived around Christmas. Wife called the dealer yesterday for an update but didn't tell me what they said. I'll have to contact her.
