Display Key Hard Reset

Does anybody know how to do a hard reset on the display key so it is ready to sell on?

I've just received it today as the original one was faulty when I picked up the car and for me there is no benefit so may as well move it on .

Many thanks.

No I assume it's coded to the car so perhaps a call to the dealer to advise.
Mine is just sitting in a cupboard unloved!

How long does the battery last? On a single charge?

Apparently it lasts up to 3 weeks but I guess that depends upon usage.

Collecting my car on Sunday, which has the technology pack. I'm in two minds about using it? It looks freaking massive!

Massive and slow prompts.

Thing is an expensive gimmick in my humble opinion.

It can only be coded or un-coded from a dealer remotely by Bmw Germany.

It's only useful if you have remote parking. If not, it's marginally beneficial vs the mobile app. Display key has a wider range. As an example, my key works from third floor of a flat without line of sight from any room in the house. And for checking status on doors, windows, fuel, etc. is much quicker than mobile app.

I use the key daily and don't find it massive. Fits into my jean pockets without any issues.

As you have the tech pack, you have the wireless charger that'll charge the key. I randomly leave my key on the tray once a week or every other week when I remember. For the past year, it's never gone dead.

Btw, even if the key is dead, you can still open doors with the buttons and drive.

Thanks for confirming Shepway I guess It will become an expensive paperweight then as naturally I don't want to sell it on if it will still unlock my car! If anyone has any other ideas, I'd be grateful.

It may be a 'gimmick' but it sure does look cool and gets comments. So many times have I gotten people checking it out all bewildered and asking questions about it.

I see your point and it is still a gimmick.

Unless you have remote parking which is pretty useful this side of pond as our parking spaces are getting smaller and smaller.
