Anyone else got a X3 M40d on order just been pushed back by 3 weeks in the UK ?

Not to sure, I think it is the build as it has been ready to build for a couple of weeks and should have been built last week.

My guy is on hols at the moment and the genius did not know why

Can you use mdecoder or similar to see if yours has been built, using your VIN number? If it has a build date then it is likely already at sea. Mine was pushed back several times when it was actually at sea, but nobody at BMW UK could confirm this. I was told many stories about why it was delayed, none of which were true.

Once it reached the port in Europe it suddenly jumped back to the original date.

Seriously - I would not TRUST a word they tell you. I was told all along mine would be built in SA. Man, I was religious about getting updates since my dealer told me would be built 1st week in October. I pinged those genius every day (lucky they don't seem to keep a history). So on 11th October it went to post build status and then I keep pinging then on 20th they finally say it switched to on ship.

Imagine how surprised I was when last week I was told it was at the dealer? I can't have it till 20th November but I was expecting mid-December. There is zero chance it took a week.5 to get to UK unless they love me so much they put it on a cargo plane.

p.s when I got the VIN I found it was built in the US ;-)

When did you order? Mine was ordered Oct 4th and built Nov 1st.

I will wait and see then and fingers crossed as if it goes into Jan I am going to have to get some wheels for work.

No Vin number yet so can't see where it is made

What date did your order go in though?

I ordered it on the 15 of September and given week 51 sytners had 2 slots..

Should be built now then, ask your salesman or a genius for the VIN number.

That is really strange, how can yours be ordered 3 weeks before mine but not started prodction yet! Although I heard a rumour that M40d’s with individual options are built in Spartenburg, so maybe yours is being built in south africa?

Who knows I went for individual leather and most options apart from the pano roof...

Same as my spec then! Tony gave me the VIN a week ago and it's 11th digit is L so it's built in spartenburg.

That's certainly not truth. Spartanburg (USA), Rosslyn (South Africa), and somewhere in Asia I believe.

Nope, they’re also built in Rosslyn, South Africa, and now in two factories in China too (Tiexi and Dadong in Shenyang, Liaoning Province)

No they're built in Rosslyn, SA as well and I think also some are built in China?

Europe gets them from Spartanburg and Rosslyn depending on engine, model and options

EU Petrol models and possibly M40d come from Spartanburg

Non M Performance diesels (not sure about M40d?) come from Rosslyn unless they have a individual option then they come from Spartanburg

Trouble is as with all facts at one point in time they do change subject to capacity at each plant so could be different now
