G01 Speaker covers

Hi! I have the HK audio system, and I sincerely miss having more beautiful speaker covers, like Burmester in Mercedes, and I have seen this covers in Aliexpress. One is the whole cover and the other is just the exterior ring... I am thinking on ordering both and see how they are in real life. Have anyone tried this?

I am thinking on ordering as well this silver trim for the sunglasses compartment (only the handle like the gloves compartment, not the whole cover)

not a terrible idea. but, it's just trying to replicate a Mercedes...nothing can replicate Mercedes unless you're Mercedes...I don't want to own a Benz **unless it's the E63S Wagon**, I want to own a BMW!

I'm not sure how much justice it will do to the sound, once you stick them over the exisiting grills. In the summer heat, you may come back to the car and find the grills will have fallen off or are loosened. And find yourself going around to each grill and pressing them on again.

They need to fit properly otherwise you could end up with really annoying vibration/buzzing from them at certain volumes and types of music. I personally wouldn’t risk it.

Whilst we are on the subject of the sound system, since getting the car (2weeks tomorrow) I’ve deliberately been playing the system at high volume levels in order to run in the speakers. It’s now starting to sound really good. No vibrations or rattles and the sound isn’t as forced and shrill as it was, it’s getting smoother and easier to listen to normal levels.

I noticed that with the HK system at first too. it sounded really shrill and off balance like the individual speaker levels weren't calibrated properly. Sounded fine after about a month.

I wish the speaker covers were prettier too but I don't want to mess with the "acoustical properties" of the grills with these ones

I will most probably use only the metal rings and not the full covers, but as I am a fan of brushed metallic speaker covers, I decided to give a try as well to the big ones...

Let's see when they arrive, as I ordered them on aliexpress, it will take a while...

They are but for some reason the back speaker grills have a narrower outer ring. The sticky stuff reaches out the the actual grill. It’s a bust lol

Ouch... Did you take any picture when trying to fit them? Would be nice to have a "real" one...

So...I received them, and sincerely, I'm going to install them. They look awesome, same color and texture as metal parts of the doors, and in my case they seem to fit perfectly both in front and rear doors.

I have already installed the sunglasses compartment cover, but I will do it with the speakers covers later when I have more time so I can clean properly the surface before the installation. Anyway, I have been able to take some pictures holding the cover with my fingers. All pics are from the front door except the last one that is from the rear door.

I was a little skeptical but I think those look great. Please update with how they hold as I'd be worried it could produce a rattle against the existing speaker cover. If all is good I will pick up a set as well as I think its a really nice look against the cognac and in my case mocha.

I finally had some time yesterday and installed them. They look awesome in live, they do NOT change the HK speakers sound, and they do not vibrate even at very high volume. I took a video but it is not available yet in good quality in Google Pictures, so when it is avaiable I will post it.

Finally the video appears with good quality in Google Pictures, so here you have a link:https://photos.app.goo.gl/dJMHZcZx5e9V5WsC7

I have noticed that when recording with a very high volume in the car, the mobile phone limits volume and some frequencies of the video, so quality is not the best, but enough to see that there are no vobretions or strange noises.

They come with their own 3M double sided tape that adheres to the external ring of the grill, and seems to be quite strong by the way. You can see it in the last image of the product link that I shared in my first post, the one that sais installation method.

Well, after two months with the covers, daily use, I have to say that I am quite happy with them. No one moved from place, no vibrations at all, sound quality remains the same... Let's see in summer, but for now everything is OK.

That actually looks very good! Might have to consider myself. They go well with the "Galvanic" embellished controls. My car is still in transit to my dealer (week 6-7 delivery, a little wait left!) and is exactly the same on the inside, Vernasca Cognac and Fineline Cove wood. It looks amazing!

Question. In your profile it says you have a Luxury Line, how did you get the M-Sport steering wheel? Did you fit it yourself? I thought it was only for the M-Sport models.
