E65 - F01 Design Comparison

I think once you see these two side by side, you'll see that the F01 is a logical, accomplished evolution of the 7 Series design. It's crisper, more aggressive, less confused, and more modern in comparison to its predecessor.

The side profile really is awesome...

As for the front and back im just not feeling yet... maybe in time... it is better looking than the previous model though... maybe i need to see it in the flesh...

Great comparison shots. I think they illustrate your opinion perfectly.

Thanks! couple of things though:

- front bumper still looks weak compared to rest of car.
- rear lights still look a little weird.

Overall I like it much better than the current model. It's growing on me. Does anyone else think it looks lighter too? The current model looks very bulky and heavy, but the revised side character line and the more sculpted body make it look lighter/sleeker.

Good post. I like them both, but being in the current 750Li (E66) iteration, I can appreciate the changes- Some 50 specific changes I could identify. Good post!

I don't know how I grew to be okay with the front bumper to be honest. I remember being vehement about it since the spy pics revealed it.

If it didn't have those side creases running beneath the headlights, or that trim strip, I think I'd still hate it. I think the creases really do save it. They look...I don't know...sporty? I like how they mirror the line beneath the headlights though.

The way I came to like the taillights was by watching those videos over and over until it just seemed to gel with the rest of the design. I think these official shots don't make it look very good.

My only remaining conflicts with the design is that the front bumper could be better, especially if it had used the one from the CS, and that from the profile, the tail looks a little saggy. Well, not saggy, but it needs a bit of a lift on the edge of the trunk lid in my opinion.

I'm also not crazy about the way the rear edges of the car sort of just mush and bend. It seems unresolved.

bimmerloyalist you and I are on the same page, I was about to make a thread just like this

you missed the interior comp:

there is absolutely no doubt that the new interior looks good, I just don't know if I can call it an improvement. I'm going to miss the expanse of would and yacht feeling of the old one... but yea the new one is definitely more "elegant" which is what the team was going for I guess

This is a good post on sharing what is similar between the E65/E66 and the F01/F02!

Good post once again.

Now that I've actually seen the comparison, the F01/2 does seem to be better than at first, especially the side view. I still don't like the tall grille, though.

the new one seems less 'luxurious'

the design is more appropriate for a 5 series than a 7 series imo

I dunno...I think the new one looks better in person....somehow the old one looks bigger...the interior is not really an improvment , its a step back..that interior is for new 5series....
