Headlight issue on G02

Hey guys, I know this isn't an X3 but that forum is pretty dead...

Took delivery of our custom built X4 M40i. Passenger side, inner DRL is dead/yellowed... Pretty certain the headlight is going to need replaced but wanted to know if anyone else had this issue on their X3?

TIA

Haven’t seen this issue yet on the forum. That is certainly not functioning correctly. They will need to replace the whole headlight.

It was on I think at the dealer. However, once we hit the road I saw in my rear-view that the passenger side lights didn't look like the drivers side. Messed around with a bunch of switches and no change...

Probably just a weak connection in the filament of the light.

Aren't you the guy that didn't let the dealer do the full PDI with the dealer? If so, I'd take it back to them and let them do the 2-5 hours of prep they are supposed to do.

I was going to open it up and fix it but being that it's under warranty, I'll let them deal with it.

No. You may have misread that post. They CLAIMED they did the PDI before I picked up the vehicle. When I asked them to clear the light, they refused to do it as they wanted me to take the car that day. Since it doesn't affect anything, I took it. I didn't want to make another 300+ mile drive to pick the car up again...

Vehicle is going back. Monday they are calling to make an appointment.

You can’t really open up the headlight. They are sealed with a glue from the factory. The only way to remove the lens is to put it in the oven to heat the glue for removal. I’m sure you don’t want to put an expensive headlight like that in the oven. 😉

I figured it was sealed but I can see two heat syncs on the headlight. Figured maybe if I removed those there MAY be some internal access, but doubtful. They appear to be held on by torx screws. May not hurt to try but not sure how to remove the headlight.

Yeah. Don’t touch them. If you do, the dealer could say you broke something and refuse to warranty.

trust me, the dealer that made you take delivery with a fault light on, will look for any excuse to blame you for anything wrong. DO NOT fix this yourself. and fyi next time you're taking delivery of a BMW do not accept it with a fault light on no matter how far you drove

So the headlight was melted inside... That's why it looked yellowish because the lens was BURNT. I'll say it was a freak occurrence and hope no one else will have this issue. Just wondering how it burned the way it did.

Already replaced. Nearest dealer is 60 miles away and they called at 4:30 so left no time to pick it up... Can't wait to get it back though.
