Ooops.. My dash fell off.
Here is picture of my dash.
This is now the 5th time dash has been apart. Trying to hardwire my RADAR DETECTOR! Just kidding. Car is in repair shop for 4th time. Total 24 days. Maybe this time they will fix the whistling / howling from HVAC system. They have replace seals twice, and now installing 2nd airbox unit. *sigh* Even if they mangage to fix this time.. what are the chances my dash will every be 'factory solid' and squeak free. And this for a brand new car I waited weeks for. BMW Customer Relations has been excessively non-committal. They've been saying.. we need to look at it, need to hear from field service team. They've been saying this since the 2nd time it was in.. over 3 weeks ago. I'm less than impressed with BMW CS right now. So BMW has a standard of one month in the shop, 3 attempts for repair by the dealer and then a field engineer involved and then they can begin the buy back process. Assuming you are in the U.S., that is their protocol. I know because I just recently went through the process. I know how frustrating the multiple repairs is but at this point I think that will be the best “fix”.

My previous 2018 X3 M40i had this exact problem. After the first repair attempt, which was unsuccessful on the 2018 X3 M40i, without me even thinking of it, BMW quickly volunteered to buy the car back and the process went very smoothly for me. They handled the matter so professionally that I then ordered a new 2019 X3 M40i. They also let me keep the 2018 till the 2019 got delivered. That took almost 2 months for my order to get built and delivered. |

I'd be so ticked. Mine is in the shop for the 3rd time while they look into the vibration under load/higher gears that will not stop...and the weird creaking noises coming from various areas behind the dash that sounds like maybe some sort of AC related issue. I'm almost over this car already after 8K miles...

They replaced blower 3 times. Still some noise, now at various temp and speeds intermittently. It’s been in shop, nearly 30 days. BMW says it will exchange vehicle. I expect this to take some weeks. Time isn’t a problem. Just happy to have new car without this issue or rattling dash. To be fair, even after 6 take a parts, I don’t hear any dash rattle, squeaks or noise. Maybe it will in weeks and months to come.
