Lowered on 19’s or get new 20’s

Noob question…..I can’t find much information on this topic.

If you had to pick between one or the other, would you?

Lower and use spacers on your current 19’s or buy new 20’s without lowering.

Any pics would be much appreciated.

Lowered and buy 20's is the correct way.
Going 20" from 19" won't reduce your wheel gap.

If I lower and use spacers on my current 19's will it look bad without 20's? There could be a large time gap before I can add 20's. Thanks for the help.

I would do 20" as the priority before lowering and spacer.
19" on the M sport just not cutting it.
And if you get a spacer for the 19", it won't be the same thickness that you'll need on the 20".

Lower it with the 19s. Rather than buying twenties

Always lower. Even if you add 20s the gap is still there. I actually lowered mine myself. Took me less than a day. All you really need is spring compressors. That took the longest. Actually compressing the springs. The removal of the struts was easy.

Thanks for the response. I agree the gap is an issue for me as well but in the long run the look I am going for probably won't cut it on 19's

Considering this as my next move. Any thoughts RG?

Its a good set of wheels, I had it for a short time.
You can check out my G30 mod thread. I think I have some pictures with that wheels on.

Lower it and get 20s for the best look. Whether U keep ur 19s or get 20s, U need to maintain ur overall rolling diameter the sane. The gap gonna be there regardless whether its the 19s or 20s.

20" looks better compared to 19" - but that's a (and my) personal opinion. If you like a sporty stance it's for sure looking better with 20s. The openings are not determined by the size - the height will be exactly the same (I would hope or you're going to have other issues). The width of the combination rim/tyre is determined by a number of factors like the ET-value and rim-width. You can have a 20" that creates a bigger space and stands less flush compared to a 19" wheel (look at the OEM wheels without spacers - ET 44 and 9x20 in the back won't give you a great result).
That being said - I've opted for 19" winter-wheels as in my part of the world 20" winter tyres are rather rare and if you unexpectedly need to replace one there's always the risk they are not available (for sure in the midst of the season or towards the end). For summer-wheels I've opted for 20" too for reasons mentioned above - and 20" summer-tyres are readily available all the time.

Did the springs come with install instructions, or have you found a write-up? Can't seem to find info on springs DIY install for these cars. I work on my cars myself, but didn't want to run into an unforeseen issue.

No instructions came with the springs. The fronts are pretty straight forward. You do have Tom compress the old spring a little to get the strut out. The rears you need to take out rear seat c pillar and deck lid plus the seat belts.

I did mine myself on just a jack and some manual spring compressors.

Sorry, I guess I don't get notifications. Now in the heck did you break the rear lower shock bolt? It's stuck so hard on there it's deforming rather than loosening. If I put more pressure on it it just raises the suspension. I can't find a solid spot to put a bottle jack in to keep it from compressing. Arg, I need to finish this!

If I had to choose, I would lower it and then get some wheels further down the road, but I really think you should wait and do both at the same time.
