Cost of One F90 Competition Wheel - Public Service Note

Quick PSA...

My one rear wheel (passenger side) got some rim rash (fairly light and not too long) when it was in the care of a valet. It was late at night and I did not see it when I picked it back up.

Although I planned to simply have a wheel guy refinish it anyway - in case anyone is wondering - they cost $2200 plus taxes in Canadian dollars - each. I'm not sure the US cost.

So keep those wheels safe fellow F90 peeps!

Is that just the wheel or with tire and all other stuff. I saw one of the sponsors have the rear wheel listed for $1,145 USD. Might be cheaper to buy it separately and then get the tire transferred.

If you need replacements, always check eBay. If bought many oem wheels there for much less than dealer prices. Often new take offs.

Might be a good idea to opt in for wheel and tire coverage. It’s the one add on when closing that has paid off for me. I have a 2015 turbo Cayenne that I have replaced 1 rim and 2 tires since owned. Way more than covered cost of the coverage.

Good to know. Stupid valet... I'm always super worried when I have no choice to use these guys...

Wheels and tires coverage seems like the way to go for peace of mind.

That is wheel only. BMW is always a crazy price. I wouldn't get knock offs - and since this is a lease I am good just to repair it - it isn't a big rash.

If I owned the car I would. I did wheel and tire and they didn't cover curb rash as it is driver error. I lose because I couldn't see it at night - and it was passenger side to boot. Full disclosure - I always do a walk around - but I still missed it in the dark.

I can never do any of these service "add ons" anymore because I've ended up learning the hard way in the past when something better, faster, etc. comes out and I break my lease 6-12 months in having used none of the service I prepaid for....

That said, after owning this car for over 6 months now, I'm very confident I'll be keeping it until the end of the lease (if not longer).

I wouldn't get a knock off either. What I posted are genuine BMW parts from an internet vendor.

So basically, the $8K for the Competition model is for the wheels! On dealer inventory, I see a bunch of Competition M5's with the no cost black wheels, why?

Valet is the worst! Luckily small curb rash can easily be repaired and is unnoticeable if done correctly.

You can order the black wheels on the M5 Comp. Dealer or customer spec'd.

I spec'd my M5C with the Comp wheels. With that said, everyone has different likes and preferences and some may like the black wheels better.

I never valet, never. Call UBER for a lift to the spot. It's much cheaper than new rims.

Not so easy when you are out of town - on your own - and meeting people for dinner.

If you have curb rash, why do you need a whole new wheel? Aren't there a bunch of portable repairmen who will come fix curb rash for like $75/wheel?

You should definitely ask for a price adjustment... I'm looking at a genuine oem bmw parts <pros> website and it's listed for $1,121.12! No way is it double that price over in Canada.

I bought the Wheel and Tire insurance package partly as a result of reading this thread, the other factor being that the stock tires are very spendy, and apparently very difficult to patch if you get a puncture (they are not run flats).

With respects to rim rash, in Vancouver we have a number of companies that can repair rim rash for a couple hundred bucks and it looks like new.

If you're in the lower mainland of BC I have used these guys in the past for my Audi; they are also the company that my Audi dealer usually recommended:
