I know a lot people love to sh#t all over this car, but I CANNOT WAIT to see one in person. The moment dealers in the US have allocations for the 2020 M40i, I am submitting my order!

Same here! Although I hate to wait, I am almost glad they have the smaller endings available around April in the US. See it, drive it, make sure I like it and order a M40i!

Precisely the plan I had in mind, as well.

What a great little car. The only shit I can give this car is more directed towards BMW who I can't believe are going to deny us the pleasure of an M version

Give it time...After a few years in the market, they will make an ///M and optional MT. It will most likely have a tuned version of the b58 or S58. The reason why they never announce it at the start is because they want to see how well the base models sell. If people knew that there is going to be a Z4M, they will not sell the M40i as much. Still a sceptic? Think of how the M2 came about (and how the 1M was born).

Anything is possible, but with the performance of the M40i and the low volume of Z cars in general, I do not think it is very likely will make an M version.

That's partly due to the red color and the blacked out trim of that "first edition" or whatever they're calling it. The "normal" version of the car looks much, much better. This one, for example, is stunning.

Why make an ///M version of an actual sports car when you can "M-up" the bloated X5 instead?

I'm not necessarily sure I follow your logic. I bought a m240i "base model" after knowing the M2 exists. There are always multiple niches that will need filling. Why not do as Porsche has done with the latest GT3 and offer both a manual and auto to increase sales and hype right from the start? What BMW is doing is giving their bean counters a chance to say, "I told you so," once the sales figures come in and they are not as strong as they could have been. Just reduces the odds of us getting another roadster after this one potentially fails. They did the same thing with wagons. Abandoned all marketing and sales push for them and what do you know, now they "aren't selling" and we will not be getting a G21 here in the States. I was never going to buy a Z4 roadster, but I was going to buy a G21. Point being, BMW seems to be setting themselves up lately to lose sales one way or another. If you are truly in the business of sales, the attitude should never be "ya win some ya lose some." The goal should be to gain sales whenever, wherever possible. Yes, resources and cost always come into play, but it's a manual transmission in a soft top roadster we are talking about. It should not be a multi-million dollar R&D effort by this point. Just my 2 cents.

Has anyone seen a production Z4 image sporting a Sirius shark fin antenna? Even on official websites, there's not a shark fin to be found. Maybe there IS a god!?!

The headlight design is stunningly beautiful... with hyper-modern cutting edge details. They'll need to be seen in person to appreciate their proportions, jeweled subtleties, and 3D effect.
