New phone!!! need your help!!
Greetings everyone!
Thank you for checking this out, so this might be when I need your help the most. The unthinkable has happened and its time for me to get a new phone. I've enjoyed the time me and my phone spent together and shared the great memories. But like all good things...this must come to an end as well. Background I own a Nokia N95 which I bought last year and am extremely happy with, it was all I hoped for and more. Upcoming Now I need a new phone and there are 2 contenders. > Samsung Omnia i900 > Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 Now both these phones are touch screen which should give me something else to touch since touching myself is getting old haha j/k it never gets old Samsung SGH-i900 Omnia Specs Samsung i900 aka Omnia is a Windows Mobile PocketPC that can get you up to 7.2 Mbps on HSDPA and storage of up to 32GB. 3.2 inches (240 x 400 pixels) with handwriting recognition 128 MB RAM, 256 MB ROM 624 MHz Marvell PXA312 processor 8 GB/16 GB internal memory microSD (TransFlash), up to 16GB HSDPA, 7.2 Mbps Wi-Fi 802.11b/g Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP USB 2.0 Microsoft Window Mobile 6.1 Professional 5 megapixel camera (2,592 х 1,944 pixels) with autofocus, image stabiliser, flash built-in GPS receiver FM Radio with RDS TV Out DivX/XviD/WMV/MP4 player Optical Mouse/Touch Screen Built-in Accelerometer 12.5mm thick. I am very confused and this might be the single most confusing decision I've encountered and that is why I need your help, so fire away the opinions and thoughts...

I once had a windows mobile phone and I'll never own another one again. You gotta keep rebooting it or it'll freeze up and the battery life is horrible. Get a blackberry.

then you must be a very ill-informed phone nut.. as for my credibility as a phone nut, well.. being able to get my hands on prototype mobiles is my specialty. @OP go with the SE... Samsung's products are going up in terms of quality/friendliness and the likes, but they are not up with SE yet... the extra memory will never get used unless you use it as an MP3 player.. but i find all phones do a trash job at that (including the iPhone) I voted SE.

yes. those 2 phones are nothing but toys. i work for a company that writes software for mobile phones, and we have thousands of them at our disposal.
they may be nice–looking and feature rich, but in my opinion they are absolutely half-assed. you get no real integration with anything, plus my job requires me to use Microsoft Exchange, which neither one of these phones can handle in a right way. I've been using blackberries for the past 6 years and went through pretty much every model they had, and now i am patiently waiting for an iPhone 3g. THAT device is a real technological breakthrough and my hat is off to Apple's innovation.

I just saw a 9000 series (3g) and it will blow iPhone likes away -- simpler, but super nice looking, all features, screen out of this world. I worked on the connectivity part of Sony Ericsson and BlackBerry phones, and have had BB 8800 for 2 years now. I'd recommend to check the 9000 in a week or two when it hits the stands. |

OP... tl;dr
Just wait 5 days until the 11th and get a iphone 3G. You'll be happy. Every new phone that comes out is immediately compared to the iphone. Its the new bar and standard. Even if other phones may have one or 2 better features or functions they will still be measured against the iphone, not the other way around.

Looks like you bought into the 'hype' before actually looking into the phone itself. The only major changes in the 3G seem to be 3G networking(of course), GPS and better Bluetooth. It still uses the same 90nm application processor as the 2G. Where exactly is this 'technological breakthrough' you're referring to?

My reasons are different than yours, but Windows Mobile is a shitty OS. (Gen 1 Blackjack) Quote:
Personally I'm rather torn. I'm really liking the way the Xperia is stacking up so far but price and 3rd party support are the issues. The iPhone, while lacking in so many features, is almost infinitely expandable software wise and already has a plethora of developers. Not to mention the new price point. Decisions decisions... OP: The Omnia is shit for the simple reason that the res is wayyyyy too low. The main feature I prize in a phone is resolution so I can browse the web more easily, and the X1 is lightyears ahead of the Omnia in that respect. (Another reason I like the iPhone, safari is very slick, but, again, the X1 is higher res than the iPhone as well by a significant amount)
