If anyone saw his MTV cribs episode you'd see why he's broke. He basically states he gives his wife the credit card and she goes to town furnishing the home. They point out the various gaudy paintings, furnishings, and nick nacks that costs tens to hundreds of thousands each.

He made a number of mistakes. He didn't capitalize on his fame when it was around and that possibly cost him tens of millions of dollars. He obviously didn't invest it well because a large chunk of money like that would grow to huge amounts.
