Stop Sale?

My dealer just told me they have a stop sale on the new X5 due to a negative battery cable issue.

Anyone else heard this?

How do you have a stop sale directive on a vehicle that's technically not available for sale right now unless it's going to take them more than a month and a half to fix whatever the alleged issue seems to be. I just asked my dealer and will let you know what he says.

As my dealer points out - if those cars get into dealers hands, they will be sold. Happens all the time (early sales).

But now they have big Red Stop signs in front of them

edit: 604 Customer Sold cars (marked Customer Sold - already built)

Stands for 'Handler-Erst-Ausstattung', which are the first production cars that are sent to the dealers for presentation purposes.

Yesterday I was told by a dealer that the stop sale still in effect. Anyone have any additional information about the issue? Is it only about the negative battery cable issue?

My dealer said that the X5 50 they have has THREE (3) stop sales on it.

Of note, there is a stop sale on some of the V8s that prevents the engine from even being started (well you can start it, but BMW does not want you to).

I was just told by my dealer that there is a STOP SALE on my
2019 X5 xDrive40i.

I thought only the 50i was involved.

Does anyone have more info on why the 40i is now affected.

My X5 was delivered to the dealer last Saturday.

Appears BMW didn't leave some of these X5s in the oven long enough. Stop sales are scary on a new car. I would think twice about buying them.

What week was it built? Probably is the battery cable issue that others have mentioned. I haven't heard of any other reasons for a stop sale.

There are at least three (3) stop sale reasons - and some trucks have all 3

1. Underbody baffles
2. NR63R - check engine oil pan. This must be done before starting the truck - if you find debris in the pan, you do not start the truck.
3. Negative battery cable

Seriously, I have toured this factory - it is amazing - but anyone who buys an early production car/truck gets what they get. It is something I would never do.

Then How long would you wait into production to buy? Just curious. Is Dec late enough? Thanks.
