At X5 dealer training event!

I finally have seen the X5 in person! I can’t post any photos or videos though...not allowed to. Also there is a sign that says no retail deliveries until 11/15, so we will all be waiting for our cars until then unfortunately!

I haven’t been able to get in the car yet, the BMW rep has it locked until training starts in 20 mins. But the outside is Mineral White with the 741M wheels. The car looks SO good in person! Wow! The grill looks perfect size, it really does! I love the 741M wheels too. They are bi-color, dark gray on the inside. The tires are Bridgestone on this car, but it appears to be a pre-production car (they still have the gear shift area covered in a cloth wrap to hide it).

I’m also happy to report the laser light stickers are really not noticeable at all unless you are on your hands and knees. They are far enough back in the housing that you can’t see them while standing. They also do appear to be stickers, not a hard plastic piece.

I’ll report more when I can get inside...this one has Vernasca coffee leather.

Let me know if you have questions!

If you see an Arctic Grey X5, please post pictures. Also, given my order is week 41 and dealer expects delivery 1-2 weeks later, I am confused how retail delivery is slotted for mid-November. Weird.

Enjoy the training.

I'd like to hear what you think about 2nd row legroom, when the front seat is fully back.

I know you said you can't post any pictures or video but can you describe if it has the leather dash or not and if the lower half of the dash is in the coffee color. Thanks.

Scott, was it an M? So far all I’ve seen pics of are the xline or the M diesel. I’d love to see one with the msport package...

This car was Mineral White. No Arctic Grey. The rep/product specialist said he didn't think cars would be shipping to dealers until the end of October with a sale date of 11/15. However, he did say there may be some wiggle room with that date depending on the dealer. He advised to confirm with your CA for sure. But what he said seems to be holding true based on the week 36 X5 I've been tracking that is still "At Port" waiting for shipment. We will see what our Week 41 does I guess.

I sat in a F15 X5 prior to the G05 and there was a noticeable amount more rear leg room in the new G05. So I can confirm there is definitely more room. The front seat room felt about the same between the two, except the G05 seemed to "feel" larger because the dash is angled away and was lower than in the F15 (the view out seemed a bit more like that of a Range Rover). So it felt bigger, even though the dimensions might not be much different.

This car didn't have Merino leather, so that might be the difference here. The Merino is "Extended" leather, so it might cover the bottom of the dash. I can confirm the Vernasca leather is just a soft touch plastic material for the lower part, with no stitching. I had to leave the training a bit early, otherwise that was a question I would have asked!

This was an M-Sport x50i that I saw today. No pics were allowed to be taken...so I can't show you any. I will say it looks absolutely fantastic to me! The M Exhaust on the 50i sounded great too. Too bad we won't get that exhaust on the 40i.

One kinda cool feature I noticed was the new iDrive has Miracast. Meaning if you have an Android phone you can mirror your phone screen to the iDrive screen...so you can put a game, or YouTube, or whatever up on the screen. I'm not sure if there is a way for an iPhone to broadcast via Miracast.

This only works while you are in Park however, not while in motion.

I have ordered a 40i with M exhaust as an extra option, the option itself is not expansive.

That exhaust is not an option in the US with the 40i engine

If you are in Vancouver Canada, there is an X5 msport in carbon black out on the show floor at the Brian Jessel dealership.

It looks amazing in person and all the concerns about the oversized kidney grill is overblown.

It's the same looking keyfob as the F15, however (per the trainer yesterday) it has all new internals to allow it to function with the new comfort access features of the G05.

The M-Sport X5 will get the stripes on the side of the key, the X-Line will just be black on the side.

The grill looks balanced with the rest of the car.

Was really hoping for a different key fob. The current one is too easy to set off in my pockets. I've done the leather cover with it, but then the thing is huge.

I wonder why the G05 isn't getting the same display key fobs like the 5er or 7's?

Yes, I believe the buttons are silver metallic on the G05. But otherwise same shape, size, and design.
