What tires/wheel spec comes with the x5?
I am trying to figure out what tires come with the 20" style 740M with all-season run-flat tires Front / Rear: 20x9.0, 275/45 R20?
or the 21" style 741M with performance run-flat tires Front: 21x9.5, 275/40 R21 Rear: 21x10.0, 315/35 R21 Anyone knows? I hope its not good year, as I had horrible experience with them on previous 5 series....and i did ask my ca and called bmw genius but no luck BTW - found this PDF for pricing and ordering for south africa that has additional information http://www.bmwgroup-media.co.za/digi..._Pricelist.pdf Last edited by e90_2_f80; 10-17-2018 at 12:56 PM.. From the photos we’ve seen so far the 741M wheels with the performance RFT tires are Perelli P-ZERO tires. Reviews on other BMWs are fairly mixed. We haven’t seen any G05s with the standard M Sport wheels that I’m aware of yet.

741 with Perlli p-zero thats acceptable. In the nico bmwSD video walkaround the white x5 wt 741 has bridgestone tire, you can see them clearly on the sidewall in the video. |

Was trying to figure this out as well because my F15 has Goodyears and they are terrible. The recent video of the 50i walk around with the 21" wheels had Bridgestone tires (I imagine the Dueler Sport) and the 21" wheels in the production line video had Pirelli tires. I don't think Goodyear makes a 275 / 315 setup with 21" inch wheels (at least they don't list them on their website) so you are probably safe from Goodyear with the 21" or larger wheels. Unfortunately, Goodyear does make tires for the 20" 275 square setup so I'm a little nervous.
P.S. I was clearly late to the party on my response -- was working on my phone and didn't see the others come in. |

I did some more digging and it looks like they might be the Bridgestone Alenza 001 tires. They are apparently custom tires made just for BMW, MB, and Porsche and are also used on the X3. But what is strange is they basically aren't sold in the US anywhere...maybe they are for world markets instead? That X5 walk-around video is most likely a pre-production model, so the tires might not be representative of the final US product.

Bad thing about the 21" and 22" wheels is the only option you have for a tire in that size on Tore Rack is the P Zero.

Anyone know about how much sidewall you lose going from 20" to 21"? 20" looks like sufficient sidewall to not have to worry constantly about bending wheels and getting bubbles in tires due to normal potholes, etc. but not sure about 21".

Got a confirmation that its one of these 3 depending on stock and availability: Good year ls2 run flat, Pirelli scorpion zero, or Bridgestone hp.
Here are 2 pics of the 740m 20" with the pirellis. 3rd pic is the 741m in 21" in the pirelli pzero. Last edited by e90_2_f80; 09-26-2018 at 09:25 PM.. |

Here in Australia at launch we are getting the G05 in only two variants - 30d and M50d.
The M50D is only available with 22" wheels (3 styles), no other wheel options period. This is a problem for me. First I drive on rural roads - rough, pot holes and in some cases dirt - just my driveway alone is 500 feet long, not paved and has sharp rocks. Being very careful the 20" 275/40-315/35's on my F15 are just acceptable with ride and haven't cut a tire (fingers crossed). 22" lower profile wheels/tires are a real concern. Second there is no black wheel option - style 491 black on my white F15 look awesome. I have a white G05 M50d on order and will have to cancel if I can't work out a 20"/21" option in black (even if I have to paint/powder coat the wheels). Not only that IMHO the big 22" shiny, flashy wheels (even the bicolour) look awful. FYI the 20" RF tires on my 1.5 year old F15 are Dunlop Sport Maxx 275/40, 315/35 R20's. |

Thanks for the pictures. Are there other pictures of X5 with 740m 20" wheels taken from a distance to see how they look? I am tempted to get 741M 21" but since I live in New York where roads are terrible consider to get 740m with more sidewall and all season tires.

Just found out that bmw released 3 winter setups for the x5. The 18 come with Nokians, 19 and 20 with pirellis.
The 18s are priced competitively considering the nokians and that sets include tpms and warranty. I might go with those 18s but my parts guy can not confirm if they will clear the m brakes. He is inquiring for me. The pics of the 20s include the mbrakes so maybe only that set clears?? You can find more details on shopbmwusa.com the site includes sizing details and higher res pics |

So,, we now see that indeed genuine BMW black wheels exist in G05 offset and clearance for M-Sport breaks.
There is no order option for black black wheels on G05's or specifically for my M50d. To get black wheels/tires for my on order M50d - . Take delivery of my M50d . Throw away 22" wheels and tires that I paid for as part of my build . Buy all weather black wheel and tire option for $4k US . Throw away tires that come with the black wheels . Buy staggered tires that normally come with the G05 20" wheel (740m) - 275/45, 305/40 How stupid of BMW to not offer a black wheel option for G05 builds. |

BMW dealer just confirmed that the 740m wheel is 20 x 9 wheels with +35 offset.
Remember this is a 5 x 112 bolt pattern, with a 66.6 bore, hub centric wheels. With this information in mind you can find some good options for winter wheels/tires online. Last edited by e90_2_f80; 10-17-2018 at 12:57 PM.. |

1) So +35 offset, front and rear? 2) Same offset with the other (staggered BMW wheel options)? Asking in part because my AMG has different offsets for front vs rear. Thanks.

Exposing that I am far from an expert on the topic, but assuming that the offsets are a function of the caliper/disc/suspension/fender dimensions and manufacturer performance parameters... as opposed to being tied to the wheel, i.e. the offset is the offset, regardless of what wheel you choose?

Offset is a measurement of the wheel center line in relation to the hub of the car. General rule when choosing your wheel, you want to be within the oem spec preferably so you dont upset the dynamics.
You can find similarly looking wheels in size but with different offsets... i am no expert either, here is a link with some info https://www.tsw.com/explore-tsw-cust...eel-offset.php |
