18" Velocity Motoring CSL Reps
Hey folks,
Like many of you, upon researching to upgrade my 17" oem run flats, the Turanza EL42, which were HORRIBLE, I could not decide between going 18 or 19. I researched tirelessly and read many a threads and viewed many pictures. I finally decided to go with 18s because I didn't want to go too flashy. It was a tough decision and I was extremely conflicted. I got the 18s with 245/40/18 front and rear Bridgestone Potenza RE960 AS Pole Positions. The tires are AWESOME. Maybe it was because the runflats were so bad, but it feels like I am driving on pillows with these new tires. I am also happy with the wheels, but to be perfectly honest, I think I should have gone with 19s. I was worried that 19s would look too flashy, but after getting these wheels in 18s, I can tell that these wheels would not make the car look too flashy. The CSL reps have a very modest yet sophisticated look to them. And I do believe that 19s would not be too much, and would truly enhance the look. So long story short, if I had to do it again, I probably would have bought 19s, which is what most of you advised on this board. Don't get me wrong, I'm very happy with the 18s, but I definitely think the 19s would leave no room for regret. It would have only been a few hundred more dollars, so cost is not a big factor. I was concerned about the durability however, so in a practical sense, the 18s are probably better, but I don't think getting 19s would have made it much worse. As I know threads are worthless without pictures around here, I've attached photos of my 06 330i with the new wheels and tires. So for those of you who were in my shoes a few weeks ago, take it from me, go with the 19s please! The CSL style goes really well and won't appear overboard! I also think the aspect ratio on my tire may be too large. The ride quality is awesome though! Sorry for the bad quality of the photos, they were not taken with optimal lighting and my digital camera sucks.
