DHP or no DHP in 40i
I had a DHP in my previous 2 X5s (2014, 2011 - both diesel). Have never driven X5 without one.
Trying to build one now to replace my 2014 model (gonna take gas) and of course as we know DHP is not available (yet?) on the configurator or to order through dealer for the 40i model. Question is will it ever be available for 40i? Since I have not driven X5 without it - how much different it is? Trying to make a decision if to order now or wait for DHP. I understand that it might be too soon to tell if the G05 will handle same/better than F15+DHP. |

We don't know at this time when or if DHP will become available on the 40i. I would guess it will at some point.
The G05 does have a significantly revised suspension and the M-Sport will come standard with the adaptive M suspension. I would think the car rides and handles better than the previous X5s if you are comparing non-DHP to non-DHP cars. We will find out in a couple weeks once the reviews start showing up.

I am not so sure about that. The F gen cars were pigs and land yachts. G cars seem to all be lighter and more nimble. Well one can hope.

The press release says Dynamic Damper Control will be available as a standard feature.
"The SAV now comes as standard with the Dynamic Damper Control system, whose electronically controlled dampers sharpen the X5’s handling dynamics at the same time as increasing ride and suspension comfort. The driver can select from two performance settings – for a more comfort-oriented or sportier driving style – using the Driving Experience Control switch." I think what the 4.0 won't have as an option is Adaptive M suspension Professional with active roll stabilization. As always, BMW is really clear about not being really clear about suspension options and specific features of those options. Release after release, we forum dwellers spend countless hours trying to sort out what is this and what is that. I think BMW is purposely vague so we can have some fun trying to figure it all out. By the time we figure it out, the next model is released and we get to start over. I'm attaching the press release. Look at Page 6. That should clear things up, or not ..... |
