Tune install, now Transfer case problem?
Hello, I recently did a stage 1 tune to my 13 535XI and instantly noticed under hard acceleration (typically) at hwy speeds that the car stutters or that the car is simply not accelerating smoothly.
I never noticed any of this prior to the tune. It's not always easy to repeat or consistent. For those that have experienced similar would you guess spark plugs or as my mechanic noted he's seen a few lately with failing transfer cases. Perhaps best to remove the tune?? |

Sorry, the tune is from these guys. I don't know much more about it.

I had this issue, (or at least it sounds similar), on a tuned 650. Went to a colder plug, (M5/M6 plug) and gapped them down to .024 as mentioned above. This got rid of the acceleration stumble for me. Most say it's overkill to go to a colder plug on just a tune, but I live in a high heat environment so I wanted to hedge my bet a little.

I resolved my issue. For anyone else that experiences the same symptoms I did the plugs (which didn't completely fix) then had the tuner change the throttle response or accelerator sensitivity.
Most tuners amp up the sensitivity of the accelerator but I think in my case it was so sensitive that slight variations to the peddle made the car jerky. What was slight before could have been the equivalent far more coming on and off (ie. in a merging scenario where you don't just put the pedal down and leave it there). Now that I'm back to stock (peddle settings) I have no symptoms. |
