Z4 M40i Video - Sound and Motion....

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
I don't know, I wasn't thrilled at first, but it's starting to grow on me and seeing it in motion is kind of nice.

My apologies if this video has been posted. Sounds kind of nice....

This is by far the best looking color I have seen on this car. The red in the leaked photos looks terrible, IMO. The frozen orange doesn't do much for me either.

I'm curious how metallic paint looks on the G29.

Two things Im not digging. The soft top and the front face. The front face could be sort of corrected by ditching the chrome for black trim instead, but the soft top is just blah. I have a feeling a hard top is going to come later when the production is about to end or gets into the last gen phase.

Can't get over the bulbous headlights

Also what BMW has been doing with sheet metal is stunning, but the modern designs seem to not come together very well - my opinion.

The soft top is due to weight reduction. The hard top added too much weight. I think what you mean is that you wish that the hard top comes when production is about to end. But, that would take a whole lot of engineering and added weight with the motors and top. Unless they already engineered a CF hardtop. Which will of course add cost. So, there might be a coupe version. This would obviously come (if there is one) after the Supra has been out for a while. Although, I do agree that a black grille would look good with this color. It would match the other black trim.

This car is growing on me, the interior looks like a nice place to be for such a small car.

Im liking this car more and more. Willing to bet the aftermarket will solve the grill issue with a replica m4 doubleslat. The detail in the tail lights is insane. I wish the center display was used fully instead of all the dead space left and right of the actual screen. Be cool to see other information display in them.. you know like coolant temp and oil temp.

and if someone like RKP comes out with a carbon fiber shooting brake style top for it that would be awesome.

Now THAT looks fantastic inside and out. That’s what should have been the First Edition launched at Pebble Beach. Whoever decided the red and frozen orange ones should be the launch cars should be fired. If they’d shown this car first there’d be a line forming to get them.

Nice video. Great looking paint too. The exterior design is growing on me. The interior is so spot on, simply perfect. I too, wish they would make an ///M version, throw the new S58 engine there. There would be a big market for a new Z4///M roadster I'm sure, especially if they would have thrown a 6MT in it. It wouldn't be the fastest car, but it could've been one of BMW's best driving cars. Just look at the resale values of the Porsche Boxster Spyders and how wonderful they are to drive, those cars are fantastic.

Is there gonna be a coupé version? I've never been fan of convertibles. The soft top kills the design for me...

No coupe version. You have to buy the new Supra if you want a solid roof on this car. I think the new Supra will look pretty good though.

Thank you!

That sucks

I really like the profile lines and rear end.

I hate the front, it looks too soft and screams "girls' car" all over the front fascia. How many of you (men) will want to be seem driving one of these? I know I won't regardless of the performance.

I will wait to see a "shadow trim" or blacked our version. Just Meh for me.

The matte gray is gorgeous though, really works on this car.

BMW did WAY too much with the front fascia. If you look back at the concept photos, you can clearly see the front bumper consists of simple sweeping lines. This is one of the few times where I've seen the production version have more crap going on than the concept. There are so many pointless hard lines, corners, and details on the production fascia. Less is more BMW!

I don't even want to talk about the interior. But...it follows the same basic layout BMW has had for 12 years. Now, they are following everyone else with the full digital cluster, and even their buttons have been reduced to something like what Lexus or Porsche is doing. I don't like it, and it would kill me that the details were lackluster if the engine was great. But it's not! Emotion and soul are gone from the brand.

I´ve driven and enjoyed all Z, but Z1 and the legend Z8. i belive this is the finest Z ever, besides the classic Z8, the latter is in another league.
But as a sporty roadster, the sound, the look G29 is awesome!
The front is sporty, soft top is excellent news, lighter and makes for better proportions. let´s see if we´ll see a full blown M.
