Buying a BMW E92
Hello,
I apologise if I am asking a question already asked first and foremost. I was looking at buying a BMW E92 coupe, but I am baffled by the amount of info available and the number of models. I am looking at both the 330i, 335i and 335d, leaning towards a N55 E92 335i, do people think this is the best one, if not any advice? Thanks in advance. |

Hello andddd welcome! When it comes to poaching, are you more an egg or an elephant man? I had this amazing eggs benny yesterday that was served on a jalapeno cheddar scone. Shit was delicious. I split my order between that an the French toast though, but wished I had gone 100% egg benny after the first few bites.
It looks like you've already seen the excellent thread on "How to buy a used E9x..." This is probably your best one-stop resource for information on what you should actually look for once you've made a decision on what model you want. Honestly, you're looking at three very different models, each with its own set of unique strengths and drawbacks (except the 330i, because it's perfect ). Only you can answer the question of "which is the best" because that depends entirely on what you value. For instance, is power more important, or do you place higher value on reliability? From what little I know about it, I'd probably rule out the 335d right off the hop. Not only is it rare to begin with, but in coupe form? Good luck... You're then left with two excellent, capable cars: one is NA, the other is turbocharged. With the 330i you're limited to an '06 MY; with the 335i in e92 form, you could find a '13 MY car... So there are some fairly significant differences before we even begin to discuss budget, or what options you can't live without. Even though the N55 is more reliable than the N54 (from what I hear...), it still comes with its own set of common problems that can be somewhat costly to repair. The N52 is not perfect by any means, but it is a very reliable engine if you keep up on repairs. You also didn't mention auto or manual. If the latter, forget the 335d even more, because they didn't offer a stick. Hope this helps get you started. I really think Nicko's post on buying a used e9x sums everything you could want up nicely. But no doubt others will chime in here with their experience and advice. Good luck!

Looking at realoem.com, they only show the E92 335d in Europe.

i believe the 335d only came in sedan for the US and was sold for really shot period of time. I heard horror stories on the carbon cleaning cost on those engines.
