Guys, I just called several of the dealers, to try to take advantage of this amazing find! (My M2C doesn't arrive until end of December, so I'd kill to find a car at MSRP today.) Unfortunately, it's too good to be true. The ones I talked to have specifically withheld these cars from buyers and ordered them for their showroom floors, with "market adjustments" of $10k. For example, the SA at one dealership I called said, "We have 6 folks on our waitlist, but when the car arrives next week, it will be available for MSRP with a market adjustment of $10k. If you would like to make an offer on the car, we'd be happy to sell it to you." Effectively, these dealerships are holding these cars in reserve and "auctioning" them off to the highest bidder. These are not going for MSRP. |

Go ahead and call. Most of those cars haven't arrived yet. Only 6 listings have actual pictures of cars on the lot. Also many of the customer ordered cars get listed online by default, even though they are taken. I know two of the cars with pics actually have $5k markups.

I’ve called half of those dealers. Those cars are not available, seems like the cars are sold upon reaching the dealer however, they take a day to snap a few pics in their showroom or post a listing to get people interested in their dealership. I’d say about %25 of those I called had a $5k markup. Currently only 512 allocations have been released to the US market and demand is very high.

They are taking a page out of the Ford playbook. If BMW wanted to pump out a shit ton of M2Cs and flood the market they could. Even without mark up these dealers are making a shit ton selling them at MSRP.

Not all dealers suck. Placed the order for my M2C yesterday at MSRP with $1K down. Fair price for my 2017 m240xi in trade as well. No drama. No BS. In and out in 30 minutes.

+1 Agree. You just have to find a dealership that isn't staffed with total douchebags (starts with management btw). They may be rare, but they are out there. Not exclusive to BMW by the way...went to two local Porsche dealerships recently to try and score an allocation for the next wave of GT4's. DBag at dealership #1 wouldn't take a deposit and basically told me I had some nerve to walk in off the street never having bought a car from them in the past and now I wanted a "precious" GT car. How appalling! He then tried to sell me a Macan, lol. Guy at dealership #2 said "We can go to my office and I'll take your REFUNDABLE deposit and start the paperwork." within 5 minutes.
