how is the HK on the m2c?

Anyone who has already taken delivery....can you tell me if there have been any changes/improvements to the HK sound system? Seeing mixed reviews on the system in the 16/17 models.

Not gonna lie one of my favorite things about my 3 series right now is the HK Logic 7 system and I'm hoping the HK on the m2c won't disspoint me (or at least not too much)

Not really hearing any difference so far, although I have yet to do any critical listening with some of my favorite test tracks.

It will be similar... It is not brilliant.

I am getting an upgraded kit similar to Bavsound installed in mine over the winter.

I think a lot of the mixed reviews are because there was a swapped wiring connection in the 16s, which caused a lack of bass and clarity. This was fixed in the 17s, and it's been a non-issue since. My 17 HK system sounds good to my admittedly non-audiophile ears, but I do care about audio quality. I doubt it's up to the standard of the Logic 7, but I think you'd have to be pretty picky to be truly disappointed.

This all assumes the M2C system is the same as the 17+, and I haven't seen anything saying that's not the case.

I am coming from my M3 with Logic 7, after a week with the M2C, I will say the sound is just 'meh'. It is not a huge disappointment from the Logic 7, but not having the EQ to dial it in to my tastes is probably the reason it does not sound as good.

I guess I'll enjoy the last couple of weeks with the Logic 7 as much as I can lol I would't say I'm an audiophile...it's just my music taste is very diverse (dance, house, rap, pop, country, rock, spanish) and those EQ tweaks make a noticeable difference for each genre.

Thanks!

I think it does a very decent job. Glad I got the HK.

A car with reduced sound insulation and a loud exhaust is never going to be the ideal candidate for a sound system. The HK is pretty good in the 235 and its the same system in a noisier car. I personally wouldn't want to spend any money putting an aftermarket system in the likes of the M2C when its not exactly optimised for it.

It is honestly lame. I had a 17 M2 and just picked up my 19 M2C. Same system. Disconnected the center channel already.

The HK in my 340, which I hadn't heard in so long, has a massive spike around 200Hz that throws everything off, especially the sound of male vocalists. The system sounds OK after setting the 200Hz slider down about 4 clicks on the EQ. I'm dreading hearing the system in the M2C without an EQ to tame the spike.

You can disconnect the center speaker in about 5 minutes. I disconnected the center speaker in my M235. The separation is much better and the over emphasized mid range is reduced. The sound stage seems smaller to me but I still prefer the sound without the center speaker.

Use a plastic trim tool to pop out the center grill. Unscrew the speaker. Lift the speaker up and disconnect it. Push the wire out of the way. Reinstall the speaker.

Well it actually took me an honest 20min because of the learning curve. You need to lift the grill on the windshield side first and figuring out how to release the wire clips. Also need to make sure you don't drop a screw into the open dash. To me it does sound better seems to produce better separation. carl

Focal? I added Focal drivers to my 17 and they were a big improvement. I was very surprised swapping out the under seat subwoofers. I also disconnected the center.
