My 2 cents on xi suspension and Xenon lights

Recently changed my stock 328xi suspension at 50,000 miles and my indie indicated that all 4 shocks and struts were shot. Prior to replacing the suspension I had to replace 3 xenon adaptive headlights due to "lazy eye" problem after hitting bumps.

Suspension is much more forgiving now and I feel that the stock suspension failure contributed to the 3 xenon light issues.

My suggestion is if you live in an area with crappy roads (I'm in the North East). You should replace your suspension sooner rather than later.

I went with the Bilstein B4s and have no regrets.

I live in PA with 18in sport package wheels on run flats. I just spent my entire weekend dicking around with my left adaptive headlight.

I have two. One in Brooklyn and one in the Bronx. PM me and I'll give you their names.

Agreed but if you upgrade your suspension you may not have to switch to go flat tires.

I feel your pain. If you pm me there is a board member in NJ who was willing to fix my headlight for about $100. Alternatively you can buy a new headlight from Autohauz for around $600.

That was my experience. Upgraded to Dinan springs/handling kit + Koni yellows and all new mounting bits - completely transformed the car so I canceled plans to switch to go flats. I'm not saying go flats wouldn't further improve things, or that I won't try them when my Driveguards need replacing, but the stock suspension just wasn't very good.

I think the stock struts/shocks (Sachs) don't last very long on the crappy roads we have here in the North East. I also agree that go flats would further improve the ride of our cars and increase the durability of our components (ie adjustable headlights).

Certainly can't argue with the condition of the roads in the NE! I did my upgrade at 43k miles too.
