Persuade me that M2c is worth it

Having second thoughts placing the order

The things that bother me with all the info released

1) weight gain – heavier then m4 and gain over current M2
2) No ability to run 18 inch wheels for track or winter (have sets of both)
3) I had no issues with current M2 brakes with Motul fluid and DCT70 pads – but pad availability for new brakes might be an issue
4) Oil cooler under the front bumper and no available skid plate yet – major concern since my daughter and wife will be driving the ca as well
5) I do not like the feel of the manual on the current M3/M4 – tongue is too high in the band and one needs to really rev the engine in manual to achieve forward motion. Like it on the current M2 much more. – concern is manual is going to feel similar on M2C and torque is shifted higher in rev band vs M3/M4
6) Do not like the M4 seats – they eat into the left leg – some people cut the metal structure to avoid that. They also too bulky for the small m2 interior and eat into visibility and rear seat space
7) Availability of test drive/order timing and higher price and crappy residuals compares to current M2 that can be had at 10% discount now.

So it all points me to current m2 or even M4. The only concern with current M2 is heat soak – but I hear it is fixable with aftermarket intercooler.

Huh? Sounds like you should get something else, or keep what you're driving now. The only person with incentive to persuade you to get an M2C is your dealer.

LOL, I swear to god I see these types of posts in all forums, be it Rennlist, Miata.net, etc.

It's always the "new version sucks, because I own the current one" bit.

See it with the 991.2 guys bitching and moaning about the upcoming 992, and seeing it with the ND1 Miata and the upcoming ND2.

Fucking hilarious.

I don't think it is worth it at MSRP. If you can wait give it a few months and grab one at a deal.

To point 6 I'm 6'7" and never had an issue in my M4 competition seats and my legs.

Isnt the M2 and M4 manual the same gearbox?

1) MY2019 M4 is 25kg(55lbs) heavier, weight over M2 is from adding superior equipment.
2) Yes, no 18's over stock big brake kit.
3) M2 brakes turn green and fade towards end of runs.
4) Owned S55 powered cars, zero problems. Skideplates will be available soon. Non issue.
5) Same manual as M2, don't like it then don't buy an M2 either.
6) Base M2 seats look cheap and barely belong in a base 3 series. M4 seats offer much more support. I have found M3/M4 seats very comfortable on long road trips. Best looking seats since Vader seats.
7) M2 can be had for 10% discount for a reason. MY2018 now have 1 year depreciation built in. New model will keep their prices down.

M2 still heatsoaks in hot weather with upgraded radiator, intercooler. Firsthand experience with a friends M2, he now owns and M4. My M3 went all day at same track event, zero heatsoak or reduce power.

Yeah the only problem with the S55 is how it sounds. Otherwise its a fabulous turbo engine. Unfortunately to me the sound is a very big problem.

If you already have an M2C coming, and it's HS, 6MT, black wheels, carbon trim, exec package... you should DEFINITELY cancel your order if the car is set to arrive before December.

And, oh by the way, mine is scheduled to arrive in late December, so can I have yours?

My hope is to eventually find an on the lot M2C to buy at a discount (not anytime soon I understand). Unfortunately the fact that Ill only buy a manual will probably make this hard.

Yeah, finding a manual is really going to be a chore. Though, I just looked on autotrader.com and within a 100 mile radius of me there are 17 manual and 29 new 2018 M2's for sale. That's surprising to me - I would have thought that manuals would be much rarer than that, but good news nonetheless.

Crossing my fingers for you. I suspect that after the initial surge in demand, there will be some manual M2C's on lots. It's kind of like every year when the new iPhone launches. Impossible to get one, and then one day you walk into the store and they're right there available for immediate purchase.

I think its worth it, if you check daily. I got 13.5% off msrp Canadian on a 2018 car that had been sitting on the lot since January.

Go talk to any BMW M dealer. They're usually good at this kind of thing.

The new published figure for a 2019 M4 with steel driveshaft says M4 weighs more. Prior to that BMW posted material that had the M2C heavier than an M4.

With passive suspension (which the M2C has).... 2015 F80 M3 owners have tested weights ~ 3450lbs, which is less than the M2C and similar to M2. Competition pack M3/M4 have been getting heavier over time. The OG was heavy for its size, but felt light and nimble in terms of handling. I look forward to driving the M2C to see if the weight is noticeable in the handling. Also want to see owners with a slicktop/6MT post member weights.

Is there a spare tire or at least equipment in the trunk? Easy 30-40 lbs lol
