2018 bmw interiors
Whilst my f33 435dx was in for an acs spring & suspension upgrade, as they'd never done it before and unsure if 1 or2 days, and given what I was paying, I requested a courtesy car so I could carry out my daily routine. I hoped it would be some small, few years old low model car. Chucking it down with rain it was a 5 series estate (touring?), brand new, how fcking long are they!? . The opposite of what I wanted just to get home.
I get that they may intentionally upscale to potential costumers with perceived customers they could upsell to, but bloody hell. Lol. Took me about 8 minutes before driving off, just working out basic things. Made my car feel old. In summary, a 2818 520dm sport with small tyres. So quiet, almost scarily so. To feel normal I kept it in Sport mode to erase the 2d lag. I scarily enjoyed it more than my own car to drive. But the interior, reverse cameras, a whole host of stuff that looked like an aeroplane lol I darent touch. A safe halo, I'm assuming stops you getting to close to anything. All I can say in summary, whilst I essentially had a bog standard msport, it felt interior-wise leagues above my pre lci 435dx f33, although looks and drive the dealership correspondent emphasised multiple times how great it (mine) looks. I appreciate they have a speel and to potentially upsell, but two completely different cars for different people, his words wernt upsell. A good sign bmw clearly seems to be dramatically improving on stuff that isn't visible on passing. A little sticker showed its model and 45k price lol (which made me stop speeding lol), Coming from a world of never buying brand new, but within the 3 year warranty, I just thought Omg do people actually pay this for an extremely capable and modern, yet utterly non descript ugly and boring car. Was nice to to see the revised tech, but yes, certain classics drive better than anything new. Was unusual to notice it wasn't xdrive (the reason mine was in), yet m sport and rear wheel, felt just as cosy and jelly y like as my 435dx m sport, even in sport mode. I know I'm rambling (so stop reading! Lol) but it seems the desire to appeal to a greater market is continually diluting what made their cars special |

Agree. Our company has just bought a 530e and the interior is another league. Both in tech and finish.

5 series has been leagues ahead of the 3/4er for a while, the 4er feels more like a 1er inside.
5er touring is a handsome car and no one pays the sticker price these days either.

It is a very long car!
Also to be fair the new 5 and X3 aren't quite the new interiors. Although a welcome step up, they new X5 and 8 and also soon to be revealed 3 are the future now. Some of the tech is so cool! Slight minus I noticed the temp controls have gone to up/down buttons, rotary knobs always please if possible BMW

Not sure how you really feel about the G31. The Five has always been for a different customer base/market than the Three. It is not like it used to be, "same sausage different skin". Cars are now designed to more directly fit the intended markets. I know some users want the fit and finish of the Five in a Three. I'm still not sure the G20 will close the gap completely. Yes, the Fives are longer... only about 300mm, (F31 to G31) so not that bad. G20 will be longer... so close the difference a bit. |

I've tried the G30 and sat in a few G30/G31 examples, to try and justify changing to the G31. There is just not enough change, IMO, to do it at present. Yes, the perceived feeling may be of better quality, a more up market car, but some of it is shiny bling, (which does attract a following), and differences in design features, rather than quantifiable quality improvements. I'm sure I will move on when the right car comes along, at the right price. |

Yea mate you are right , F10 was brilliant drive and G30 even better . seats are so comfortable and drive is just miles better than Merc or Audi, i made a mistake and got Merc E Class AMG line after F10 drove for two month and handed back and got G30 . I got G30 in Bluestone with M Performance kit |

Is the F30 interior really that bad? Yes it's not got the swooping lines of a Mercedes or the ultra modern feel of an Audi but I still think it is very classy, supremely functional and generally very good quality.

I agree. I think because it’s quite minimal it’s easy to say it’s boring. I personally like the design. Some of the plastics feel a bit cheap though, especially the bit around the gear selector, which is a shame as it’s probably one of the most touched bits. I have an LCI F36 which I think received some improved bits (ie gloss) bits of trim.
