Twice as big a gap (in handling response and body control) between M Sport & standard suspension I like a lot!! This should really have been the case ever since M Sport suspension deletion has been an option... and they've finally realised that most people choose an M Sport predominantly for it's handling response... and those who choose it for it's appearance (but want a comfortable car) can opt for standard suspension!!
Does sound very promising... and that's the very car I would probably be looking at (just on 18's because, as suggested, it'll probably handle better that way). Only pity is the 330i won't come with a manual box but the huge increase in torque, up to the 400Nm of the old 335i, is very welcome!! Last edited by nozydog; 08-15-2018 at 06:46 AM.. |

Just what I needed on a dreary morning. This review, despite having to read it blurry lined from my phone because it's blocked at work, fills me with optimism. I simply can't wait for the G20.

Thanks for posting, was surprised not to find more online. Thought today was the end of the embargo? Looks promising, kinda funny they rag on the alfa but at the same time acknowledge it's really good. I seriously considered buying one after test driving.

Does this work for you? Can't get them in the correct order with the app though.

Thank you I can see them now.
OMG, so far the rumor is turning out to be true - no manual 330/340. And they call it a return to sporting roots. Why not have it available, special order only or something. So basically without shelling out $$$ for an M car, there's only 230 and 240 left. Thanks BMW |

Sounds a great move dynamically in the right direction. Can't wait to see what the other reviews that come out later have to say, hopefully a few got to drive the M340 or an xdrive model.

So glad they have concentrated on improving the passive dampers (my dealer said he's never had anyone add the optional adaptive dampers!) meaning they can stiffen the M Sport springs!!
Whilst the option of adaptives is nice, any car should drive properly in it's pre-option state in my opinion. |

No Manual mentioned most likely means no manual. There would have been something said by the journalist like, "guess what, the manual can be had in the M340..."

Keep hearing from every car maker/reviewer that manuals will be going away for almost all cars with very few exceptions. Just sad to me.

Overall, this looks promising. BMW really needs to get the 3-Series its groove back. Especially since last month (July 2018), the Tesla Model 3 outsold the BMW 3-Series, Mercedes C-Class, and Audi A4 COMBINED! With the new G20 being about 121lbs lighter than the F30 this bodes very very well for a recipe for a real drivers car, especially when the Model 3 is coming in at around 4,000lbs. So I'm guessing the curb weight of the G20 will be somewhere around the 3,200 - 3,400lbs range. Now with the turbo 4 in the G20 making 295tq from the factory, this combined with a lighter weight will be very very good for sportiness. I just hope that BMW put real effort into its steering feel this time.
