I've done it on my friend's F90.
There is no problem.
Flashing both ECU's takes 10 minutes.

Is there a needed benefit to the car that we are taking away?
I really want to get rid of the cold start.

Cold start is to warm-up the cats, why would you want to disable it?.

If you don't have cats then why have it? Also, helps mellow exhaust on starting.

I love it too but, it sets alarm from other cars and I am sure neighbors don't like it. Lol

What about your emissions laws, are they tight, if so Cats required NO?.

Anyone find an easy way to disable the cold Cat warmup cycle......mainly to disable the high RPM revs and loud exhaust noise

what about removing the top speed limiter on the comp?

I'm also interested in this. One night I came across a site offering a list of isolated codes such as speed limit removal, cel delete, etc... but for the life of me I cant remember. I am about to have my catless installed but no tune yet and I would like to remove the cold start and CEL light.

An ECU flash can remove both cold start and top speed limit, but that will also void your warranty. If you're going to do it, might as well add some power

Any modification to vehicle MAY void warranty if caused damage and proven to be related to that. So saying all ECU Flash will void warranty is wrong, but maybe in your country #FearMonger lol

Let me know if you need help with Cold Start / Top Speed and Power Bump ;-)

In ANY country. I get it you’re BM3 fan/rep/whatever, you’ve made it clear in several threads now, but don’t misguide people. Their cars can/will get flagged with a ECU remap, guaranteed so if they have an engine failure.

Everyone has their favorite right? Regardless if I'm an alien or rep, singer etc fact is fact and I've proven it in the last 50,000 miles & 2 cars of my own what tune works and what doesn't. 1/4 mile, 60-130, México etc. Daily drivers beating garage Queens!
Has worked for me in the last 3yrs+ and wouldn't change it. Unlike the popular piggyback 8 months of headaches and BS.. TONS of blown up ppl going on since 2015 and even a few minor ones this year since most ppl have ditched the piggys as they're more inconsistent than anything.

Anyways, ANY modification can be used against you so whether piggy or ecu they're also not in the same category. Not all piggy have the same features but they still are not better for the car in the long run than a proper flash. There's a few flashes that are also not good. In the end, a proper flash will not cause any engine damage so warranty will be OK as I've seen when you follow maintenance, proper engine warm up, cool down & use the correct octane.

I ran AA and Velos piggys on my two F10 M5's ... plug and play - zero issues through two different 3 year leases. A good friend (active on these forums also ran an AA piggy w/ zero issues).

There's a good size ///M5 community here in Miami .... within this group I saw firsthand 5 tuned engines blown on the F10 M5 platform where the owners footed the bill. On the F10 M5 forums there are blown tuned engines all over the place .... I honestly don't recall any blown engines running piggys (some DTML issues on Dinan units and some issues with JB4's early on but nowhere near the number of blown engines).

The arguments regarding which route is safer is a subjective one at best but in the real world the numbers clearly support the fact that piggys are safer; at least in the world I live in.

My current F90 is stock except for exhaust but I would not hesitate to do a piggy ... a tune has not and will not cross my mind ... f-ing headache.

I do agree some tuners / tunes are better than others but plenty of blown engines from reputable tuners.

Not trying to stir the sh-t, but .... if I do, so be it.

Pay to play ....

TY, next
