You forgot we are passionate, enthusiastic and (sometimes) knowledgable about our cars and spend months looking at all available models, options, colours etc.
We then spend almost as long looking for and negotiating the best deal. The vast majority of people have a vague idea of what they want and what they can afford. Someone will walk into the showroom, say that's a nice colour, I can afford 500 a month. It's a deal. |

Looking at some dealerships for the price of my 340i on 20k a year the best I "could" get is a 420d convertible, 140i or X2

It does seem to be madness out there at the mo' Have been 'casually' looking at M3's & there are 18-reg vehicles @ £550 per month (approx.) on 0% and then again there are other 18'reg M3's at £700+ per month at 6.9%
There doesn't seem to be anything uniform from BMWFS out there.... |

To be fair if this is HP then surely it is quite a good price, less than £34k total cost. What are we talking, £45k list price with the extras and individual bits (probably more). That's a 25%+ saving on list price.
This is assuming it's HP which if it isn't then yes it's bloody expensive! |

Ah but you get to pay another £14900 after 4 years to keep it!
Now I know your average punter likely doesn't know about what actual discounts can be had but I got this as a flyer email trying to entice me to buy! |

So it's definitely a PCP not a HP? Looked on their website where I can see the actual price of the car is just shy of £47k but nothing else.

Sorry to be a pain but could you ask if they Have by any chance got a 440I?
I'm in the market for one and can put 20k down, I'm happy to pay £550 a month. If I take it over 48 months I'm sure I will have saved up the 18k balloon payment. I was thinking of asking TRL but I didn't think he'd be able to get close to this really so didn't want to waste his time. |
