Sat nav query

Ok I have the professional sat nav in my car and today I noticed for the first time (I've had the car for over a year) that whilst I can input a full seven digit post code, the sat nav doesn't use all the digits and ignores the last two - leaving me to work out the rest myself. Whereas if I use Google maps or Waze on my phone, these will invariably take me to the premises I am visiting.

Is it just me?

I too have the same sat nav and it always asks for the full postcode when I input a new destination.
So no problems here

Mine works fine, building name or number combo with postal code takes me to the door needed.

Unless its where I actually live. Which it thinks is in the middle of a field in a farm half a mile down the road from our house (new development).

It could be how you are putting the postcode in. Sometimes requires a space in the middle for certain postcodes.

Why bother typing it in with the iDrive wheel?

Just press the voice control button on the steering wheel, say ‘postcode’, wait for the prompt then say each letter clearly. Then push down the wheel to accept the destination.

Works great nearly every time I’ve tried it, and much safer way to input when on the move!

That's fine, but I don't have voice.

I use the connected drive app to find the address then send it to the car.

I have the same kind of issue sometimes with some postcodes, it doesn't let you put a space in on the odd occasion, which has led me to move to the right with I-Drive and scroll all the way down till I find the correct postcode

I've tried using the voice input, but it can never understand when I talk to it and less so when I swear at it which is invariably the next step .

The handwriting mode similarly doesn't work for me as I am illegible.

Alternatively, write the letters/numbers on the iDrive pad. Works for me and full postcode accepted.
