My Car's Coding Potential?

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone could tell me how I could find out the coding potential of my car, it's a F30 328i but I believe it has the most basic options, no Bluetooth audio etc.

I was thinking to get Carly and a wire to do it myself, or BimmerCode and a wire/Bluetooth adapter, which is better? and which Bluetooth adapter is best?

Would also just like to know the options actually possible to me with my car being so basic?

Any help appreciated, cheers.

Carly or Bimmercode ehh

Easiest way to find out is buy a £15 adaptor and try the free versions of either software to see what can be done, then pay for the software to unlock what can be coded.

Haha.

Thanks. I’ve read somewhere people saying their car has 6XX and there’s different versions or something to do with the iDrive? How do I find out which one I have and is there a list of coding available to each version specifically?

Cheers

Yes that's correct. Hopefully someone will be able to say where it is. Although someone I know did retrofit one in a 5 series.

Get your adapter and BimmerCode app. Then follow this:

Any questions about EBT? Go here:

Thanks for that didn’t even notice it as it looks greyed out.

Is the boot liner easy to take out or does it involve screws etc?

Edit: just checked, no combox. Never mind I will just stick with my Bluetooth adapter for audio until I eventually get a new car.

Is there still a lot of things I could code via bimmercode that’s worth it?

Flap lifts up. Pull forward and remove. No flap? Lift from the edge.

Thanks mate yeah it was as simple as lifting it up and sliding forward however the combox space was empty.

Given the situation of my car, would it still be possible to code a few things I've read around such as:

- wing mirrors dip in reverse?

- door handle lights on in reverse?

- anything else similar you all would recommend?

Cheers.

Wing mirror dip in reverse. Slide your mirror switch if I remember to the right.

Lights on reverse depends if you have the extended light package.

Otherwise? Mirror fold on lock if you have electric folding mirrors. Enhanced Bluetooth if you haven't done already. DRL brightness increase to 70-80% if you have LED lights.

Appreciate the help mate.

However I don't have electric mirrors, extended light package or a combox so I think coding is no real use to my car at the moment.

Before you give up here is a list of coding that may or may not apply to your car depending on what you have:

It's also worth while decoding your VIN. Google BMW vin decoder. There are a few sites. Then you know exactly what kit you have.

I disagree... still worth the investment. You are able to code A LOT more things than you realize.

Sports Automatic Transmission (also Sport+ and Launch Control)

Seatbelt warning / Disclaimer delete

///M graphics on dash

If you ever want to change your bulbs to LED you can also code out of hot/cold checks so that they dont flicker.

These are just a few things that come to mind...

Down load the free version of Bimmercode and see what can be done before splashing out or put out a shout for anyone local to help out if they’ve got Bimmercode

People are generally helpful on here but just don’t let the word out - we have a reputation to protect.
