What you're hearing is ASD, not the real exhaust of the car. It appears to be recorded from a phone and seems as if the mic was obstructed. Lots of white noise in the recording. Think the point and focus of the video was to demo launch control, not ASD.

Agreed that it doesn't seem as fast as we might expect...don't agree on the sound though - this was presumably taped with ASD on and the windows up, which we all know to be synthetic on some level.

Driving the car yourself, when warmed up and with the windows down = opportunity to judge the sound, IMO.

I wouldn't get too crazy over the details in these videos. We have no idea how experienced the driver is, road conditions, etc. The driver could be some smuck like me

Its amazing how everyone tries to assess SOUND on a video that is focused on the launch and acceleration..

Obviously the audio isn’t high fidelity, but it sounds more like the n55 asd versus s55 asd. To me, this is a good thing.

Then again, I could be completely wrong.

I think with launch control driver isn't much of a factor. The car decides when to shift.

Doesn't seem that fast(er) indeed, and that's the DCT.. I hope this car doesn't disappoint..

^Agreed.

I myself won't jump to any conclusions from one video.

Not concerned at all. The stock M2 to me felt slow to me after a couple months of driving it and I started modding it. It felt much quicker by the time I finished with it.

I dont see myself leaving this one stock either and once the S55 gets modded and hits roughly 500whp I am sure it will be plenty quick for my liking.

Exactly my thoughts. No disrespect to the folks who are planning to keep this car stock but I don't care so much about the stock performance numbers. I'll post an acceleration video for you guys once I get an M4 CS tune on mine after the break in period

For comparison, below is a stock 235i and M2 launch and gear change POV..

I know what fast feels like, I am expecting the M2C with a mild tune to pull similar to my friend's Twin-Turbo 6 cylinder GT-R..

That's ish feels like a roller coaster on 4 wheels..

But I'll reserve judgement until kids starts dissecting it.. I know the motor has potential..

Agree...just a stage 1 flash for S55 these days is 500+hp. This little car is going to be manic with a simple tune.

This video is not correct at all. You can't compare two videos taken in separate locations for a number of factors.

The video was just for context to show how the launch control pulls the M2 in a similar surge to the M2C.

I was expecting a more massive, tire-shredding launch in the M2C.

I will see how much a tune helps in the upcoming months.

This is probably better assessment:
